This deck was an attempt to deal with Lilliana of the Veil who had been giving me fits. Toluz, Clever Conductor is the only discard hate I could find, so she takes center stage. The connives mechanic works really well with her so Raffine, Scheming Seer and Ledger Shredder both synergize. Phyrexian Missionary to get back creatures we've discarded or lost to removal.

And since I am trying to play counterspells but don't really know how (I always discard them) I figured I should have a flash package so if I'm waiting to counter something I can have something to do if they don't cast anything good, and because The Wandering Emperor is really good, and so is Cathar Commando for an Arena BO1 player like myself.

Sphinx of Clear Skies and Elspeth Resplendent are just strong and I believe they go together like biscuits and gravy. Elspeth also can fetch Raffine or Brutal Cathar   which can help turn the tide.

I'm sure the mana-base could be better, but all my rare dual-colored lands just rotated out :(
