ATTENTION: As stated in the description of the page we are keeping one or two versions of each commander that is/are most optimized. Two versions will be kept if a commander can be played two very different ways. We now have two submissions for Blaze Commando. Seeing how both decks are similar enough in strategy here is what should happen now. Agent_Fire and heltoupee have an opportunity to say a few words and make their case if they believe their deck best represents the commander. Then the rest of us can make points as well. I don't expect making a final decision to ever be hard, the most popular opinion should be enough. Discussion is to be kept kind and respectful. If your list is not chosen you should not be discouraged to submit further decks or even make optimizations in order to resubmit and take the position back.

I feel like the correct option is for me and heltoupee to work together to make a better deck.

You guys are free to brew and work together on lists to make them better and I definetly encourage that. On this list we just want to inherit the superior deck whenever presented with new decks.

@Agent_Fire - I'm totally up for that. That being said, I think your build shows more synergy with the commander than mine (my list could just as easily be converted to, say, Guttersnipe). Saying it another way, my list just doesn't do much with the creatures that get created, other than attack for 1 where convenient, or trigger impact tremors, while yours will produce less creatures, it does more with them once they're there. That makes it more distinctly a "Blaze Commando" deck. I'll make some suggestions on your list, but I feel that the better starting point is probably your list.

Sultai Soothsayer + Sultai Soothsayer - PDH Combos

This opinion may be a bit awkward, but I feel that the two decks in question should duke it out, gladiator-style. Best deck stays up, other deck tries again some other time.

I'd make a case for my build of Sultai Soothsayer: PDH Sultai Soothsayer
This build might be a little bit slower to get its combo online (Peregrine Drake loop) but it has better means of protecting the combo and itself on the way there by playing like a typical control deck with removal, sweepers and counterspells. In regards to which deck represents the commander better, this deck uses it both as a tool to find the combo pieces and as a way to find a win condition once you assembled the loop by flickering it over and over.

@wraya2: Your build looks interesting and I'm looking forward to hear you make a case for your version

I'd make the case for my build because it is a lot more resilient to hate because there are multiple combo pieces that it can use to pull out a win ("oh, you exiled a piece for that combo, don't worry, there's two more to replace it") and from what it looks like, while I don't run a ton of counter spells to 'protect' my pieces (I admittedly only have one counter spell), I have a ton of recursion that allows me to regain those pieces if I need them.

That's one thing I really like about my deck is that it's multidimensional and it required a constant examination of the board state, my hand/graveyard, and my ability to tutor/dig through my library to figure out the best way to try and pull out a win. My deck's not looking for just one combo, it's got plenty of routes to go.

That could be a knock against my deck at the same time though because someone would argue that it's "not focused" enough but I'd argue that makes my deck more resilient due to the fact that opponents can't laser focus in on one or two key cards (and if they do, they'd better be sure to exile them otherwise... recursion?) lol. Either way, I think both decks are fun to pilot and I'm cool with whatever the collective decides to do!

I'd say that both versions run a fairly high number of recursion and ways to tutor them up, making them both quite resilient.

I think both decks are fairly different in their play style. Your version tries to combo as early as possible whereas my version tries to control the game and use the combo as an efficient way to close it out. Apart from Peregrine Drake and Cloud of Faeries the deck looks like a typical control deck. The number of 'bad' cards (which most combo cards are when they aren't used in their respective combo) thus is quite low. Even the win conditions like Compulsive Research, Crypt Rats or Winds of Rebuke are cards you'd normally run which in my mind makes this version slighty more competetive.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to any kind of feedback on which deck should be in this Compendium

Word. (I'm also just really interested in some legit feedback from a more experienced deck builder/combo person with my deck) :) :) :)

Some brief thoughts on the 'Sultai Soothsayer - PDH Combos' deck at a glance:

• Devoted Druid and Presence of Gond should be included to help with all the wacky combos.
• Utopia Vow is a second, cheaper copy of Karametra's Favor.
• Night Market Lookout is a second, cheaper copy of Servant of Tymaret.
• Snuff Out should almost always be an auto include in any deck.

I'm in favor of a more control centered deck with one or two combos in it's back pocket. Combo pieces that are also not dead cards outside of having the other pieces.

That makes sense and, in that case, MagicBlues has a solid deck that meets those standards and his deck should be spotlighted. After hearing everyone's feedback and considering what blue's deck does well, I took out the more janky combo with ornithopter/golems/glaze fiend, etc. (which totaled 6 potential "bad" card draws) and replaced them with more removal/counter spells.
