Working on a grave dancing like deck. The point is to sacrifice creatures for effects, (
Bottle Gnomes
(life gain),Augur of Skulls (they discard two cards), and then bring them back with Disentomb and Corpse Dance. Also bringing back the
Ravenous Rats
, and the two previously mentioned creatures with
Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker
.
Hoping to be able to keep Corpse Dance with enough mana on the field, so paying its "buyback" price.. And hopefully instead of then removing my returned creature I then turn it into "food" with my Phyrexian Plaguelord. Hence the creature will have been sacrificed instead, meaning I can once again retrieve it from my grave.
Repeatedly returning Fleshbag Marauder and just choosing to sacrifice it, means my opponent is continuously having to sacrifice their cards. If they don't have any, just choose any of my cards,
Ravenous Rats
will come in handy, with discarding a card.
Cards like High Market and
Rats of Rath
are more so I can sacrifice cards for their effects, and then being able to bring them back to do it again.
Cabal Therapy
could work against my opponent if I know their deck, or I could just use it against myself to get cards into my grave.
Liliana Vess is nice for her discard, either for me or against my opponent. Hoping to be able to use her minus eight ability effectively which would give me nice presence on the field.
Leechridden Swamp is more just an annoyance really. And Living Death is in the sideboard because I am unsure if I wanna go over 61 cards. Although considering my deck relies on sacrificing smaller creatures without necessarily killing theirs, I could bring a few out at once.
I also like the idea behind
Ashling, the Extinguisher
, a four drop 4/4 and opponent creature removal (which can do wonders if I pull off Liliana Vess's minus eight. However I'm unsure of where to fit it exactly, with having
Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker
and its mechanic.
Depending on how this deck plays, I may swap out
Cabal Therapy
for Doom Blade, just to give me more murdering power.
I am undecided about
Wall of Bone
although the idea of a defender with regenerate is nice. And can be brought back with
Shirei, Shizo's Caretaker
. I've also contemplated swapping out Augur of Skulls with
Bile Urchin
because it means direct damage. Although the former will annoy my opponent.
