Maybe run Ezuri, Claw of Progress as your commander, as both of fable's abilities trigger him?

I would use Ezuri, but I dislike his flavor and I think I've kind of settled on a card draw theme.

put some one drop creatures in, as an example: experiment one. Ramp spells, rocks and land are on the low side to.

I'll agree with cowgodzilla, lands/ramp seem on the low side. If it works, it works, but yeah.

thanks, foodsa! I upped the land count by one. I'd like to know what you think of the primer, though.

Very nice, I'm actually rebuilding my primer for my own Zegana right now, so it's cool to see what other people do with it. +1

Alright, finally sat down and read it. Thoughts:

Not sold on: Merfolk Sovereign

Replacement ideas: Streambed Aquitects can pump a merfolk to prep for zagana entering, or with any other merfolk lord, islandwalking. as an additional note, ensures whiskergill can attack :)

Rogue's Passage can help fix mana, and ensure any beater you have gets through

any other merfolk lord that gives islandwalk, sure its situational but they also usually pump, and punishing blue decks is always satisfying

Ordinarily I would wonder why you would want Fauna Shaman over Survival of the Fittest, but the creature synergy with zegana/kruphix is strong enough to convince me that the creature choice is better in this instance.

Also not sold on: Sagu Mauler

Possible replacements: Cache Raiders Trigger Zegana every turn, without increasing mana cost, or bounce your Fathom Mage, Mystic Snake, Progenitor Mimic, Reclamation Sage, Selkie Hedge-Mage, Vendilion Clique, Wistful Selkie, Woodfall Primus. It can repair your Glen Elendra Archmage, and could give you another landfall trigger via Lotus Cobra. If you have no other targets you want to bounce, just bounce itself. Major drawback: mana cost, and non-optional bouncing.

Wanderwine Prophets, extra turns, but mainly bouncing merfolk to revive them or their ETB triggers, like Zegana, wistful selkie, or selkie hedge-mage. Also gives good protection against board wipes.

Stormtide Leviathan is absolutely devastating to the board. Dunno if much else can be said.

Potential Card Ideas:

Cold-Eyed Selkie

Merrow Harbinger as a replacement to whiskergill? Its not a complete tutor, but its something.

Overall, very cool. Well formatted and explained.

Thanks even more! I'm gonna have to take those into consideration. I may end up taking out whiskergill, for the harbinger, assuming I have enough quality cards to fetch. I don't know about cache raiders, but I'll find a similar card. I don't want rogue's passage, it does not fix mana. Sagu's kind of a pet card, a personal favorite, so I'm keeping it. Thassa was suggested over sovereign, but I kept sovereign for flavor reasons.EDIT: I don't have enough good merfolk to fetch. EDIT 2: What's your opinion on Familiar's Ruse?

That's an interesting question, and the answer is because this deck is not meant to be competetive. It kind of screws up the game when I just pull an instant win out of my hand.

I cannot seem to get that 10th vote XD! I have thought about bident of thassa, and I think I'll add it to the maybeboard. It's a very valid suggestion, just didn't quite make the cut the first time through
