I think your friends play like mine. Heavy creature decks. Anyway the only suggestion I can think of may be Syncopate for Essence Scatter ? Probably going to cost 2 mana most of the time and it is more flexible. Desecration Demon is a crazy good card for Dimir Control/Mill, but AEtherling is a fantastic substitute if you find your DD is getting targeted heavily. +1 from me though!

You're right, very similar. If you want to add more demons, I recommend dropping the two Wall of Frost

I might also recommend putting your specific milling cards into your sideboard for a control matchup and move some of your removal into the main. I find the hard smear part about milling is surviving long enough to make it happen and more removal is always better

@ DDrew56936 I actually removed the Duskmantle Guildmage combo from the deck entirely, I found that Omenspeaker was a great replacement card and really helped lower the chance of dead draws, Also, I would love Thoughtseize but I don't see me spending 60 bucks on 3 of them, I know its a great card, but I don't see 20$ a pop there. AEtherling is awesome, no doubt, but I just really don't want a 6 drop in the deck, im actually trying to get a lower total CMC for the deck overall and its been hard. I just can't see him getting that much play since games typically last 7-12 turns, and typically I need mana to cast removal spells or counter magic whatever my opponent tosses out. Great suggestion though!
@ MistaMint I can't see myself dropping the walls, they buy tons of time and time is what I need. Once I see my results at FNM ill have a better idea of what exactly to do with the deck overall and maybe then ill try replacing the walls, but as of now Wall of Frost and Hover Barrier have done me great justice.
@carpage Syncopate is a great option, I only have 1 copy of the card though, I may toss a random one into the deck for FNM to keep them guessing, but as far as Essence Scatter goes, its great for 2 mana! Syncopate has just been too iffy when I did use it because if they do want to tap to counter it then I blew mana and they get the stuff they want.
Thanks for the +1s and the suggestions. All really helpful!

I also forgot to mentions that I may be removing 1x Wall of Frost for 1x Thassa, God of the Sea easier to get out, and that tasty scry! Plus the addition of putting unblockable on Consuming Aberration I think it would be worth it

UPDATE: Deck feels nearly complete, any last min suggestions for FNM speak up now, this will be the final changes the deck will see until after FNM! Results will be posted late night afterwards, or Saturday for those interested in the results.
Also, I have found Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver to be super helpful in getting things on the field of battle, I feel like control game is where its at, the removal is working very well and I typically have a counter spell ready whenever I need it. The only final debate I have on the deck as a whole is including Read the Bones , I like the fact that the CMC is 3 which is equal to Pilfered Plans However it interacts with double the amount of cards, hense scry 2 then draw 2, the only drawback to it is losing 2 life, which might not sound bad but if the deck wasn't doing so hot and taking alot of damage it could really add up. I need some input on this overall and get a clear idea about putting it within the deck for draw power. Again big thanks to all of you involved you really helped me craft this deck and I feel that it really has turned out better than I could have made it on my own, so thank you!

Just to add my two cents, you should consider Crypt Ghast -> have two on the battlefield, drop Mind Grind and you could mill for 15-20 lands to end the discussion with the opponent. :)

what would you remove for it though? I just removed 1x Wall of Frost to fit in 1x Thassa, God of the Sea for a luck draw, plus she could give Consuming Aberration unblockable for the win and her scry on upkeep is nice. Basically im running out of places to remove and add so what would you do?

I've found Read the Bones to be incredibly useful. My little brother and I just finished play testing some of my decks and in my U/B Mill/ Control it was a game changer. Maybe it was a fluke but having the ability to look t top 2 cards of library ditch what you don't want for something new won me 3 matches.

Yeah it is super helpful, im actually debating on removing Pilfered Plans for Read the Bones , however, I don't think I will have all the paper copies ready before FNM sadly. It will be something I am putting in the deck though, to compensate I am also debating on Whip of Erebos for massive life gain across the board.

This is very close to the mill deck I ran until about three days ago (I sadly don't have the final version on here) But I ran three Aberrations. When you get all three out, everytime you cast anything, they're milling for three lands. If I couldn't get them in, I had Diabolic Tutor to help out.

Yeah Consuming Aberration is quite the beast, but I don't think I need a third copy. I love his ability though such a great 5 drop, probably the best 5 drop

I've got to ask in advance two things.
Can you do 'update' to this so it clears the giant comment wall?
Why are you running 1x's of things? Find cards that you utilize in your deck to add more of rather than throw in a card that you will probably only see once every 40ish games?

the 1 of cards in the deck serve their roles, like Mind Grind its a late game card IF I need it, its helpful when it comes out and I don't miss it if I don't see it, same with Thassa, just nice to get out if I manage to draw her, with all the Scry from Dissolve and Omenspeaker I typically see all of my cards by T10-12 also adding in the new shocks that have scry 1 so thats even more. No need to have double copies of cards that are late game and legendary creatures that I will most likely scry to get to.
And yeah about to make the comment wall vanish

I was going to ask your advice on my deck Jace and Ashiok Mill Twins if you have time to at some point. Similar strategies and I'm still fairly new so any advice would help out immensely. Having troubles, especially against aggro so debating about adding white and Turing into control.

Read the Bones or Underworld Connections would help for draw power in this deck to help move things along so i think it would be a great addition but what to move or swap for one of those is a tough decision here.

Im highly thinking of removing Pilfered Plans all together for Read the Bones since a 2 mill isn't all that valuable, however interacting with the possibility of 4 cards is very nice in speeding things up and getting what I need. Plus its easier to get off considering I only need 1 specific type of mana to cast Read the Bones vs Pilfered Plans

I sure did drag my feet on taking Pilfered Plans out of my deck but ultimately i traded the two i had n there for one Read the Bones and one Opportunity . As someone advised, i was rarely going to use that card on turn three.
October 4, 2013 12:53 a.m.
Vindemiatrixx says... #22
Yeah Read the Bones is such a great card overall, as far as Opportunity I think it doesn't have value to its CMC, its just a really high cost for 4 cards.

After playtesting this, I have seen some things I'd improve on. Perhaps it is my mentality of having 1x of a card being no good that is directing this. Here are my suggestions:
Remove:
1x Thassa, God of the Sea . Has no place in here.
2x Desecration Demon . Doesn't match your deckstyle
1x Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver . Compared to Jace, he is near-useless
2x Pilfered Plans . Double up on other cards for guaranteed plays-per-game.
2x Hover Barrier . There are better cards.
3x Dissolve
Add:
3x Wight of Precinct Six . Obvious reasons.
2x Jace's Mindseeker . Obvious reasons.
1x Cyclonic Rift . Can always use more of these!
1x Breaking / Entering . Obvious reasons.
1x Mind Grind . Useful even if X=1.
4x Thoughtsieze. You will get a feel for their deck at the beginning.
These changes will help stabilize your deck while also making it a lot scarier to play against.

All great suggestions, how did my deck fare against your aggro? Im thinking if tomorrow at FNM doesn't go well im going to change it up to be more control type and probably remake the entire deck using alot of those suggestions

Those are great suggestions It would be similar to my Millin' N' Killin' (Competitive U/B), but still have its own feel different from mine.

Strionic Resonator could be awesome, it's ability can even target mirko or Consuming Aberration
