I was debating whether or not to add Curse of Misfortunes to the deck, I figured I'd try it with 3 curse of misfortunes (I took 2 lightning bolts and 1 Diabolic Tutors out), and 1 copy of Curse of Stalked Prey and Curse of Death's Hold for curse of Misfortunes to search for.
I figured Diabolic tutor is 4 cost to search for one card, so Curse of Misfortunes being 5 cost to search for as many as 4 cards AND play them for free was well worth it. The more I think about it, the more I realize I'd rather get a Curse of Misfortunes than a Diabolic Tutor. The only problem is that if I get 2 Curse of Misfortunes the second isn't very useful but if I get 2 Diabolic Tutors both are useful, and Diabolic Tutors let you get duplicates of cards you already have (as well as searching for Manabarbs or Mana Acceleration if you're Mana Starved).
- It searches more than once
- It grows the number of curses for Curse of Thirst
- It lets you play curses for free
I've found mana isn't a huge issue I usually have 2 mana by turn 2 (or whenever I draw my first card)...which should be the statistical average...and once I have 2 mana, I have lots of mana acceleration.
I play-tested this before taking the lightning bolts out for the Curse of Misfortunes and found that I killed on average around turn 7-8. I was hoping that the Curse of Misfortunes will accelerate getting the curses out and kill even faster, not to mention buff the Vampire Nighthawks for more damage and more healing.
This deck doesn't work well at all if Curse of Bloodletting doesn't come out so the searching is pretty critical.
I tested it with the new build, including the Curse of Misfortunes, and by turn 14 (which admittedly was late in the game) I was dealing 116 damage per turn (so My opponent would have realistically died well before turn 14).
I did this with the following:
2 Curse of pierced heart
3 Curse of Thirst
1 Curse of Misfortunes
1 Curse of Death's Hold
1 Curse of Stalked Prey
2 Curse of Bloodletting
1 Manabarbs (dealing 4 damage for each mana they tap)
2 Vampire Nighthawks (so I would be dealing creature damage as well and healing)
2 Reassembling Skeletons
I think this build has potential to build faster than without the Curse of Misfortunes.
