Update #5 —Jan. 18, 2016

Major overhaul, thanks to Logics.

Removed most 5 mana cards and 2x Groundbreaker, added Sakura-Tribe Elder, Street Wraith, Evolutionary Leap and Treetop Village.

Most expensive change is 4x Dryad Arbor replacing 4 Forests. When Dryad Arbor gets milled into the graveyard, it counts as another creature. It bumps up the price of the deck a fair bit, but it's a fun addition and adds immensely to the deck's ability to get creatures into the graveyard at breakneck pace.

Thank you for making this deck. I found it and it inspired me to make my own version. Through some testing, I have some suggestions for you.

My deck:

Firstly I feel like 20 lands is too few to curve out at 5. It looks like a lot of the time you'll just have a Kessig Cagebreakers or Spider Spawning stuck in your hand all game. Llanowar Elves and Satyr Wayfinder will in most cases not be enough to get you there.

Looking at your list I feel like some of the cards are low impact too. Llanowar Elves for example, has almost no synergy with what you're doing. In my list, I use a combination of Wild Cantors and Sakura-Tribe Elders as they not only ramp me but they put themselves in the graveyard as well.

Between your 5 drops Kessig Cagebreakers is clearly more powerful. But it scares me that you have to untap with it and then attack before you get any value, especially when realistically, getting to 5 mana to cast it in the first place isn't all that easy.

I also found through playtesting that Uktabi Drake and Ground Breaker are lower impact than first glance. In my list I used their slots for more consistent mana, so I can curve out consistently.

Lastly, here's a list of Cards I've found work wonders in the deck:

Evolutionary Leap - This card gives you so much value in the mid to late stages of the game. And makes your grindy matches tip even more in your favor. With this though you probably want 4 copies of Commune with the Gods.

Ghoultree - Usually dropped turn 4 or 5, having a 1 mana 10/10 can pretty easily turn the tide of a game.

Nemesis of Mortals - Doesn't enter as chaply as Ghoultree, but it's easier to play in the earlier stages of the game.

Street Wraith - Let's you play what is essentially a 56 card deck, and is another way to easily fill your graveyard. My deck runs 0 black sources and I still; feel like it's an auto 4 of because it feels that good.

Treetop Village - Manlands are generally good all around cards, and this one is no exception.

Garruk Relentless  Flip - I really think you want more than 1 in the mainboard. I run 2 because he is a removal spell that oozes value afterward. Also the interaction between his ult and the 1/1 deathtouch wolves is amazing. If you don't know, basically anything that has trample and deathtouch only needs to assign one point of damage to the blocker. So if you ult and attack with the wolves, or say Wasteland Viper your Splinterfright, you only need 1 damage per blocker, and the rest goes to the face.

Lastly in the sideboard, I would suggest you add a Life from the Loam, Ghost Quarter package so that you have a fighting chance against tron.

Hopefully this helps you out. Feel free to take as many (or as few) suggestions as you like for the deck and happy brewing.

Thanks for the help Logics!

I agree with you on multiple points. There are probably too many 5 drops for this mana base. I think Spider Spawning can definitely go, but I'm still on the fence about Kessig Cagebreakers. It has just won me too many games, but I agree that it's a tad on the slow side.

Sakura-Tribe Elder is definitely a card worth considering. It's ramp on a stick that kicks the bucket, like Wild Cantor, which I'm also on the fence about returning. The body count might outweigh the reliability of the Llanowar Elves which, as you say, has no synergy with the rest of the deck.

Ghoultree is a very solid card in this deck, but it doesn't have trample or evasion, making the 10/10 body pretty meh in my experience since the deck has no reliable removal options. Nemesis of Mortals is just too expensive to cast in my opinion, and also lacks trample. The fact that Boneyard Wurm can shine at any turn it comes in for just a flat 2 mana makes it a bit more reliable.

Street Wraith is... dang. That is nuts. Really need to get my hands on a playset. I'm itching to try it out. The life loss is minor enough. Besides, we're pretending to play Black anyway. Treetop Village is also going in.

I like that Evolutionary Leap filters out creatures and doesn't put non creatures in the graveyard. I'm going to test it out. It's a good card to use on ETB stuff like Satyr Wayfinder.

I put in Uktabi Drake and Groundbreaker because I wanted the deck to keep the pressure up. I'm way, way too fond of Uktabi Drake's flying. It's nice to just throw a kicked Vines of Vastwood on. Groundbreaker I kind of agree with, but it's just such a nice big, beefy smash to the face. And no, I did not know about trample and deathtouch. If I would have known, I would have cast Wasteland Viper on it a lot of times. D:

I'm definitely going to playtest around with your brew.
