What do you do if Jeleva exiles one of your combo pieces? They aren't sorcery/instant and you wouldn't be able to cast them from exile...

It's a potential risk you might run into, but the volume of cards she showed you is just too good to pass up, or was, until kess was released now kess is the perfect head for this kind of list.

I really like Jeleva in multiplayer, because she brings non-linearity play on the fields. If you get into Kess, maybe you need something that blink her (multiple activations).

Her effect is pretty powerful on it's own, when it's used on a tutor or contrip or wheel, you don't really need to build around it, just like you don't have to build around jeleva, she just uses your good cards again.

What are your thoughts on replacing one of the signets with fellwar stone? Same mana cost and doesn't require mana to activate. Also in multiplayer, most colors are covered, and there's usually another player playing blue or black.

I understand his weaknesses and don't really care for him myself but with no basics and tainted pact I have to ask...No labman?

Wheezy I think swapping out a signet for fellwar stone is totally fine. You can replace zealous conscripts for labman if you want, I just don't like how glass canon that line is, you still have some percentage of your deck after tainted pact if going for your normal lines. If I was to cut the third kiki outlet I would just add another wipe or counter spell. The line has merits though, it doesn't require the grave and is pretty easy to get to so in a meta that's super anti-graveyard because it's full of hulk I can see it having some value. I wouldn't fault you on running it, I just don't feel like doing it.

Grim tutor vs. Demonic consultation? Timetwister replacement?thanks.

infiniteimoc says... #9

I like the more mana efficient nature of consultation, like im not a fan of grim at all. Twister can become another wipe, counter spell, reanimation spell, or that 4 mana wheel that's kinda bad.

I have a question about the nature of this deck. Are you generally looking to combo out as fast as possible, or are you looking to play an adaptive game? Are most tutors usually for kiki-jiki or one of the untappers?

infiniteimoc says... #11

Most of the tutors are buried alive or one of the untappers you kinda wanna leave kiki to being reanimated. If you can win fast win fast, I usually play a more adaptive game but it's really up to the hand.

i really like the idea of the list, any recomendations for budgeting it down? does it really need the og duels?

is Flusterstorm not worth playing to protect the combo?

Why play the Cavern of Souls in the deck? I can see the usefulness in stopping people from countering your combos, but I don't think it is entirely necessary.

What's your take on adding in a Combat Celebrant as another Kiki or Twin Target. Machine gunning Celebrants at people is another combo.

this fast artifact mana is needed in this deck? im understand why rituals so good, but artifacts? and that do you think about good reanimation targets like Consecrated Sphinx, Kederekt Leviathan, Void Winnower? good overall creatures like Baral, Chief of Compliance, Gilded Drake, Spellskite, spells like Dig Through Time. and how decks works with artifact(like rod, torpor etc) and enchantment hate(like -1-1, etc)?

infiniteimoc says... #17

The artifacts really help accelerate you to where you need to be. I like gilded drake, baral, and consecrated sphinx. Dig is okay, but it's not super great here. Counters usually handle the kinda hate you're looking for, but there are plenty of low cost red artifact wipes that can do the job if need be the one that's RX that destroys all artifacts with converted mana cost X is a good example, I believe it's called By Force.

Have you considered running Careful Study ? Another loot effect is often something I've found necessary in reanimator style decks.

Any alternative for Fire Covenant?

Also, isnt Cyclonic Rift almost always a dead card early game primarily because it kind of attracts you to its overload cost? Any alternatives too in mind?

Lastly, any thoughts on Ad Nauseam?

the cmc varience is way to high to use ad naus in this deck. Losing 10 life when you hit Jin Gitaxias is not possible.

w3ncy says... #21

Youre right. And Cyclonic overload is just very good mid game.

I just want to make sure I'm not missing something: Is Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker/Splinter Twin + Deceiver Exarch/Zealous Conscripts the only win conditions of the deck, and everything else is mana/tutors/draw/disruption?

I have Mizzix list with a lot of UR spellslinger staples that I'm looking to overhaul, and I'm thinking of just switching to Grixis instead. I also don't really care for Doomsday or Storm decks, so this looks like a nice combo deck that would fit into my meta once I make some budget-based cuts.

Hi Sgtpopnfreash,After using this list, I found myself playing with opponents tutoring for grave-hate cards especially with people who Ive combod out previously. My question is, arent you considering another combo-win outside the graveyard? Your thoughts on this please if youre not busy?

Was thinking of a Doomsday package adding Gush, Lion's Eye Diamond and Laboratory Maniac or just Lab Man because we already have Tainted Pact in the deck.

December 12, 2017 7:36 a.m.

Sgtpopnfreash says... #24

I wouldn't just add a Doomsday package to a re-animator list. Doomsday is really not that great of a win condition. The only thing it has going for it is how fast it is and how well it works with enablers such as Ad Nauseam. If you build your deck around Reanimate style effects you dilute the Doomsday plan and you lose the speed that it can sometimes go off with. A better secondary plan is to just Notion Thief and Wheel of Fortune to empty everyones hands and draw 28.

December 12, 2017 2:35 p.m.

All the wheel effects and no consecrated sphinx?
