Maybeboard

A WIP W/R/G humans and soldiers deck, mainly based around DMU

After a bit of playtesting, as of this edit, I've worked with this deck for around 60 matches or ~5 hours.

It was a bit hard to decide on exactly how I wanted to build this, but I'm pretty happy with how it is currently.

This deck was designed with BO1 in mind, hence the destroy evil. Otherwise, I'd just sideboard a few of those and only have Fateful Absence in the main.

Overall, I think the mana base could use some smoothing (if only I had the cards ;;), but overall I view it as a fun tribal deck to mess around it.

The game plan is fairly simple: just overwhelm the opponent. It'd be ideal to start with a Thalia or to just play one early while setting up your board. You use cards such as Wedding Announcement and Baird to steadily build the board with your various lords applying pressure, either beating down your opponent steadily or dropping something like Jetmir and closing the game that way. Resolute Reinforcements provides a sneaky way to push your Jetmir to the next tier (trample, and maybe double strike for your board), even after blockers have been declared.

The deck has two big flaws: board wipes and, honestly, being stuck between humans and soldiers.

Board wipes are pretty self-explanatory: we want to fill the board as wide as possible and cards like Meathook Massacre, which is quite commonly run in places like MTG Arena, completely ruin that plan while giving our opponent a ton of life.

The other problem stems from the tokens- we either make human tokens (i.e. thru Wedding Announcement) or soldier tokens (i.e. through Baird. Sigarda (not human or soldier) only buffs humans and Valiant Veteran (note: not human) only buffs soldiers, so sometimes there's an awkward imbalance in our board power as our tokens cant benefit from all of our buffs. This usually doesn't matter super often, but when it does, it really can suck. On the bright side, this does make triggering Sigarda's ability very easy.
