Norn's Choirmaster

Creature — Phyrexian Angel

Flying, first strike

Whenever a commander you control enter the battlefield or attacks, proliferate. (Choose any number of permanents and/or players, then give each another counter of each kind already there.)

Venum,

I think you're right. Norn's Choirmaster only shines if I can attack more than once with my commander while Tekuthal synergizes with the deck as a whole giving consistsnt added value. Also, once upon a time in the deck's earlier iterations Defense of the Heart was in the deck, I dont remember why I cut it though.

Hi Venum,

Thank you for the nice words, i'm glad you like my deck. Tekuthal, Inquiry Dominus definitely pinged across my radar when he was first released, I even went so far as to get an oil slickfoil copy of him as the price became more affordable. The problem was that I just couldn't find a slot for him in the deck. I'm flirting with the idea of swapping it in for the recent addition of Norn's Choirmaster - both are very similar cards with Tekuthal more synergy with the deck overall, but is not a proliferation source. The Choirmaster is a proliferation source, but requires the Commander to be in play - which is something I generally want. I don't know, the verdict is out on this one. Thoughts?

I'm surprised you're not running some cheap proliferate options like Grateful Apparition, Martyr for the Cause, Volt Charge, or maybe even Norn's Choirmaster. The fact that your experience counters aren't interactable for your opponents is a big strength for making sure that Kalemne doesn't get set back by removal :)

I haven't played or played against this commander but I think it has a identity crisis from the get go but I cannot quite explain why.

Excise the Imperfect is a flavor win however... I think I'd rather play almostany other removal like Oblation

Elesh Norn  Flip little expensive but the saga side is the type of effect that ends games its even better for your deck that incubates alot

Norn's Choirmaster potential for many proliferate triggers. But expensive effect. Worth considering for the t4 commander t5 this curve out.

Lich-Knights' Conquest Mass reanimation that can sac incubation tokens.

Haunted One tribal buff w/undying when your commander attacks

Invasion of New Capenna  Flip okay Removal that flips to a buffing tribal equipment

I looked at bargain cards to find something awesome as you can sac tokens/artifacts. But I didn't one that seemed to be worthwhile. That may be worth looking at.

Happy brewing

Yes you would. As Elesh is on the battlefield when Norn's Choirmaster triggers, it’ll trigger an additional time.

Soecifically, this gatherer ruling covers this scenario: ”If a permanent entering the battlefield at the same time as Elesh Norn (including Elesh Norn itself) causes a triggered ability of a permanent you control to trigger, that ability triggers an additional time.” - emphasis in bold.

If I have Norn's Choirmaster out, do I get a double proliferate trigger when I summon my commander Elesh Norn, Mother of Machines? I initially thought no but after rereading Norn's gatherer text I was a little confused. Thanks!

Mortlocke Very very very late reply, I was sure I had replied to this comment a while ago! (blame my major ADHD ^^')

For your question concerning Norn's Choirmaster I would say it is a very useful card to have, and i like to have it on the field before my commander.

It creates a good combo when it does come out on the field and the opponent already has at least one poison counter on them, you can proliferate said poison counters just by casting your commander or attacking with it.

So if you are interested in proliferating poison counters as fast as possible it's very helpful and it's even better if you can equip Grafted Exoskeleton to it!

With the help of a few tutor card it's easy to create some combos surrounding this card! :)

Hope that is helpful to you!
