Building a casual Archelos, centered on generating value from untapped lands and landfall triggers.

Not looking to play more stax, already plenty of ways to tap Archelos in here. Not looking to combo off or to go infinite.

Please make your suggestions for cuts that would allow me to bring in Kona, Rescue Beastie, Green Slime and possibly others from the Maybe list. Also open to your general comments and suggestions about tweaks that follow the theme, style and mechanic that I am going for.

Thank you!

BirdieGirlie makes a lot of sense. I playtested the deck just to see how would it work and intended on keep iterating on it. While trying I found what you said. Not enough creatures either for Eldritch Evolution or Fauna Shaman so I will try getting more on the deck. I also found that The World Spell and Invasion of Ixalan  Flip usually were very underwhelming. The latter still had some value, but it would rarely be flipped, so I want to try getting simply more draw spells. The ideal here would be to get something like Forging the Anchor is for artifacts, in general a very efficient draw spell just for something, but I don't think there is any choice. Maybe I will try some draw + scry effects. Regarding the Omniscience payoff, Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur is AMAZING, so now I think the deck is just missing some other threat that is more immediately dangerous, as Worldspine Wurm does not seem to go all the way to it. Finally, dealing with removal and counters. I absolutely know that the combo is VERY reliant on Kona, Rescue Beastie living, but I want to just get some more consistent and better tuned deck first. Also, some of the best options like Veil of Summer are quite pricey and feel very bad if they get stuck in your hand without use or you draw too many. For now, I am considering including Destiny Spinner to deal with counters and also act as fodder for some of the crature searchers when not needed.

11/5 Update: Changed some of the numbers around as I am getting closer to landing on a decided list. Looking forward to some cards from Foundations as well, but trying to keep budget in mind so kind of waiting to see what I pull before making decisions. Right now have settled on 11 threats to put in to play with Kona, Rescue Beastie abilitiy. Trying to now see exactly how many tappers I need to keep it consistent on turn four

This looks like a blast to play! Scroll Rack, Kona, Rescue Beastie, Rhythm of the Wild, and Chance for Glory might be fun in here too.

I know its been awhile but once duskmourn came out i saw these two beauties. Kona, Rescue Beastie works great with this deck and works well with Relic of Legends . The other i would put in is Nashi, Searcher in the Dark . I also if you wish to is take out the Ornithopter and put in Sylvan Caryatid . Having a mana dork with hexproof and at same mana cost is a big upside.

My own decks tend to be between 3 and 4 average CMC but my typical group tends more towards the battlecruiser games of old. I think a deck's strategy can also impact how much a higher average CMC even matters.

A recent example of it not mattering as much is Kona, Rescue Beastie. Kona can afford a higher average CMC because the evil goodest boy is dropping in Eldrazi for free.... probably turn 3 xD Depending on your ramp.
