Illusionist's Bracers: viable in standard?

Well, when I'm not doing what Thrun does best; I like to make anti-metagame decks with unique combos. Right now, I'm trying to find a good use for my four card:Illusionist's Bracers. Anyone have suggestions? aside from equipping it to an Izzet Staticaster soulbonded with Nightshade Peddler , heh heh heh...!

I think it works best with vampires such as Olivia Voldaren and Bloodline Keeper  Flip with Dark Impostor

All good uses! I'm also looking into Simic cards with it, Simic Manipulator and the second ability on Zameck Guildmage would wreck, and the way Frilled Oculus is worded, the bracers let it become a 5/7, since you activate the ability once, but it gets copied. That's not a bad surprise when you the 1/3 you blocked with becomes a 5/7 and squashes whatever came at you.

its a bad surprise because it can be seen coming for ages and paying 7 mana to get a 1/3 that for 2 mana becomes a 5/7 is bad.

To each their own, I suppose~

You can use it to tighten up infinite mana combos. Using Axebane Guardian with Niblis of the Breath . I built a small deck with the combo: Infinite? unfortunately the best win I got was turn 8, so it's not exactly standard worthy and I don't know if the delay in the deck wold be able to stave off people long enough.

card:Illusionist's Bracers doesn't work with Axebane Guardian . It can't copy mana abilities.

Or did you mean to put the bracers on the Niblis? I see the combo now. Sorry about that first part, Grrrbear.

card:Illusionist's Bracers can = unlimited mana in the following ways (maybe more):

card:Illusionist's Bracers on and Arbor Elf , that is bound with Galvanic Alchemist (requires a Breeding Pool )

card:Illusionist's Bracers on a Greenside Watcher , that is bound with Galvanic Alchemist (requires and blue producing gate).

card:Illusionist's Bracers on a Niblis of the Breath , and a card:Illusionist's Bracers on either land untappers above.

card:Illusionist's Bracers on an Axebane Guardian , bound with a Galvanic Alchemist and 1 other defender in play. (mana producing isn't doubled, but he untaps twice)

card:Illusionist's Bracers on a Niblis of the Breath or Captain of the Mists , and an Axebane Guardian plus 1 or 2 other defenders.

card:Illusionist's Bracers on Captain of the Mists with a Thraben Doomsayer and Axebane Guardian and 2 other defenders in play. (can repeat for infinite human tokens with one other defender, but not mana)

I'm liking my decision to get this card while it's dirt cheap more and more, haha! Seems a human or vampire deck would find the most benefit from it, so far.

I like the last combo listed on Rayenous's post the most. Also the second one looks like it would require three card:Illusionist's Bracers on the Arbor Elf .

That or you need to enchant the land, the only one in standard that I know of is Verdant Haven . And you would need to enchant it three times if you want infinite mana...

I am tired so I may be wrong.

Also dcarpntr, I don't mind, I like being fact checked C;

Never mind, I see that the card:Illusionist's Bracers copy both the untap ability as well as the .... other untap ability soul bound to him. Sorry about that.

Sorry my friend just leaned over my shoulder and said the word Griselbrand . This isn't for the infinite combo just winning for less life.

I'm spoiling Tuesday's Daily Dose, but my opponent there ran U/R that seemed based on card:Illusionist's Bracers. He paired them with:

He seemed to have more options, but sideboarding and me not seeing all of his deck in the first game kept me from knowing the others. I can tell you that Bracers on the Shrieker seemed pretty scary.

....Dark Impostor ...!!!

Exile 2 creatures.... get 2 +1/+1 counters.... gain all ACTIVATED ABILITIES of those 2 creatures.

Now those abilities you stole will occur twice.

There's also Tavern Swindler .

Tap, Pay 3 life: Flip 2 coins, gain 6 life for each coin flip you win.

I like those odds... it turns a 'break-even' game into an average of '+3 life' game.

Eeeeeww, that deck that KrazyCaley saw looks sick; I'm going to have to try something like that out. But I like my B/R Beatdown...
