Making Investigate EDH Viable

Commander Deck Help forum

Ever since Shadows Over Innistrad first came out, I've loved the investigate mechanic. Must be something about "getting a clue" jokes. Anyways, I was looking at making a deck for the best ways to exploit Investigate and clues in general in EDH. Here's what I've got so far:

Any suggestion is a good suggestion.

Doubling Season is always worth including in token decks ;) a bit on the pricey side though

Funnily enough I'm also working on a cluebased EDH deck (definitely not finished yet). I am working with Leovold, Emissary of Trest as the commander. That way I can play Mechanized Production on Noxious Gearhulk for sweet value. Marionette Master also has great synergy with Tireless Tracker, bonus points when you have Syndicate Trafficker in play as well.

Green and Blue are the most important colors for clues, however I think Black has an edge over white as third color. I'll definitely keep track of your progress with white, I hope you'll find some nice combos.

I just finished making a clue deck, and this is what I found...

Clue-related colors are in white, blue, and green, so bant seems like the best for it. In terms of red and black cards, there are a few cards that would work nicely, but not enough to really push the deck into four colors.

I think Rafiq of the Many might be the most synergistic with Bearer of Overwhelming Truths  Flip, Briarbridge Patrol, and Ongoing Investigation, but I'm choosing to use Roon of the Hidden Realm instead to synergize with Drownyard Explorers and Thraben Inspector since Rafiq gets a lot of negative attention; Rafiq can swing out the gates really fast and clues are more for a slow game rather than a fast one.

Next, a lot of people don't like Primal Vigor, but I think it would be great here since it's basically another Parallel Lives (and hopefully Doubling Season eventually too!). Doubling clues is nice, but doubling their effects are cool too, so Alhammarret's Archive, Thought Reflection, and Rings of Brighthearth are also like auto-includes.

See more at the deck that I think would be successful in making clues work in EDH:
