You are quite wrong, what you have here is an amazing deck that could definitely see some serious play at a local modern tournament with a little fine tuning. You definitely need a little more ramp. Cultivate , Kodama's Reach , Growth Spasm and Birds of Paradise are great. The ramp also helps speed up the trigger on Dragonmaster Outcast and you can sac the birds and eldrazi token to a devourer later on. Speaking of devourers, Predator Dragon is an excellent one that ends games on the spot. But what are they to devour? Fists of Ironwood provides two devour fodder tokens and trample on a big beater such as Mycoloth or Xenagos, God of Revels . Eldrazi spawn can easily be produced in large quantities. Brood Birthing , Nest Invader , Emrakul's Hatcher and Kozilek's Predator can produce them in a decent quantity. If you find yourself needing to find a certain creature, Fauna Shaman is pretty awesome. Well, those are all my recommendations. I hope they were helpful. Awesome deck and +1!

And I meant you were quite wrong to your original statement that this deck " is probably far too slow for competitive play".

OmniscientPotato [haha wow thank you for the vote of confidence! I decided to cut Dragonmaster Outcast for the mana dorks, mostly because he is almost always going to get downed before 6 mana, he may come back or end up in the sideboard if I face a deck without a readied answer for him. I originally had Cultivate but cut it out for Rampant Growth thinking it would be faster, in modern I would hope that by turn 3 I'm confident with my mana base, not hoping for more. Fists of Ironwood is an old favorite of mine, I used to run a Jund Devour deck so I am fully aware of the fun to be had, just hard to fit enough in here along that line without taking away from the things that greater benefit Dragon Broodmother . Definitely really good suggestions though.

Are the Crucible of Fire really worth it now? Seeing as you took out the Dragonmaster Outcast s, your 3 Dragon Broodmother and your 2 Sarkhan Vol are your only source of dragons. Also, your curve is a little rough with too many 4 drops and not enough three drops. I think Growth Spasm could help a lot in this case. Again, real nice deck you've made here.

well i guess was hoping you would implore me to cut birds or caryatid for dragonmasters. but yea at least i can see that have 3x of them is a little silly without them.

actually yea there is the question...Birds of Paradise or Sylvan Caryatid ???

The birds are preffered to the caryatid in this case, they're cheaper to play and with a deck like this, I doubt you would actually need to block with them.

Better, much better. I do think it would be a good idea to drop at least 1 Asceticism for another Growth Spasm or Awakening Zone , though.

It seems a little too slow. Add Birds of Paradise , Sylvan Caryatid , other mana dorks. Good idea! +1
