"What are the three terrors of the Fire Swamp? One, the flame spurt, no problem. There's a popping sound preceding each; we can avoid that. Two, the lightning sand, which you were clever enough to discover what that looks like, so in the future we can avoid that too."

"What about the R.O.U.S.'s?"

"Rodents Of Unusual Size? I don't think they exist."

- The Princess Bride

Rat tribal deck with a flaming splash of red. This deck came into being while watching the movie and the concept just makes me laugh and smile. I think it's going to be a super fun deck to play and I can't wait to try it out. Are you afraid of the fire swamp?

  • Fire Swamp Terror #1 - Flame Spurt: Pillar of Flame and Searing Spear for damage to opponent player/creature.
  • Fire Swamp Terror #2 - Lightning Sand: Quicksand mostly for colorless mana generation but it's sac effect could be useful. Choking Sands for land destruction/opponent damage. And on the SB Scouring Sands to deal with the weenies.and don't forget to add some Blightning to those sands!
  • Fire Swamp Terror #3 - R.O.U.S.s: The deck's main goal is to get lots of rats on the field, attach Bravado to Swarm of Rats or Pestilence Rats to turn them into huge rats that can cause tons of damage.

Updates Add

I found myself using Contaminated Ground more often than Evil Presence and Searing Spear was almost always ignored in favor of attacking or using Pillar of Flame. I still think SS is good and will relegate it to SB tech. I also needed a couple more swamps.

Removed (MB): - 2x Searing Spear - 2x Evil Presence - 1x Rakdos Guildgate

Added (MB): + 2x Contaminated Ground + 3x Swamp

Removed (SB): - 1x Contaminated Ground - 1x Evil Presence

Added (SB): + 1x Deviant Glee + 1x Searing Spear

Next round of playtesting, I will make sure to record matchups and results, so stay tuned.
