This is a Mono-Black Extort deck that I recently constructed with Gray Merchant of Asphodel.

• Crypt Ghast and [[Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx] provide ramp.

• Plenty of card advantage is available through Underworld Connections, Read the Bones, and Erebos, God of the Dead.

• Doom Blade, Hero's Downfall and Thoughtseize are removal. Quag Sickness is on the sideboard for indestructible creatures.

• Pontiff of Blight gives extort to your creatures, while Whip of Erebos re-animates to create a combo with Gray Merchant of Asphodel and has the bonus of lifelink.
