Rofellos the Noble

Noble

KorApprentice

Description

This is my first real Noble deck. You can read about the format at Introducing Noble: the Format. The uncommons in this deck are 2x Pathrazer of Ulamog, 1x Artisan of Kozilek, and 1x Lightning Greaves. The rest of the deck is based around putting out as many forests as you can and using the mana from Rofellos, Llanowar Emissary to play those Eldrazi spells. Reclaim will bring Rofellos back as long as he is not exiled. Any comments or suggestions are appreciated!

Curious, if you can only have one Lotus PetalMTG Card: Lotus Petal in normal Pauper what is the difference with Noble?

Over all this deck looks like it would be very effective.

There is no restricted cards in Pauper, the only banned cards in that format are Cranial PlatingMTG Card: Cranial Plating and Frantic SearchMTG Card: Frantic Search. You are allowed to have 4 Lotus PetalMTG Card: Lotus Petals in Pauper, Peasant, Legacy, and Noble.

Oh, my bad, for some reason I thought they were restricted everywhere but Legacy... Gatherer doesn't have anything on Pauper or Peasant.

Also, I love that you are using HarrowMTG Card: Harrow, for what it does it should totally be a Black spell. I love when I see a spell in another color that acts like Black.

Searching your library for two lands and putting them onto the battlefield is a black effect?

No, the sacrificing 1 to gain 2 is a Black effect.

The deck works great if you get a big guy in your opening hand. It's pretty easy to hit 8-9 mana on turn 3 and dump an Eldrazi. Without an Eldrazi in hand it's a bit tough. Maybe Ancient StirringsMTG Card: Ancient Stirrings? ExploreMTG Card: Explore could help dig for an Eldrazi too. Lotus PetalMTG Card: Lotus Petal works great here, so good that I nearly recommended Simian Spirit GuideMTG Card: Simian Spirit Guide, but that's actually a terrible idea. Good deck here.

I really like the Ancient StirringsMTG Card: Ancient Stirrings idea, that is great! Thanks. I have also run into the problem almost every game of having tons of mana but nothing to cast.

Is there any artifacts/enchantments/lands/creatures you could throw in that you could pump Mana into for tokens while you are waiting to bring out the big nasties?

I'd rather just throw in more big creatures to pump that mana into. But I actually think Ancient StirringsMTG Card: Ancient Stirrings with the 6 big creatures should be enough. I will play test it quite a bit and then decide if it needs more creatures, there are other common Eldrazi that I could put in here. Thank you for the feedback guys! I kinda miss my turn 3 win decks though :)

The only thing I don't like about this deck is that it folds to any kind of removal. I suppose I could fill the sideboard with responses like Ranger's GuileMTG Card: Ranger's Guile, but boarding them in would be difficult without slowing down the deck considerably.

You could use Shimmering GrottoMTG Card: Shimmering Grottos in the Mainboard and throw in a spells like Apostle's BlessingMTG Card: Apostle's Blessing into the Sideboard...

Personally, I like the idea, but it seems like you have an imbalance between mana and stuff to play with all your mana. I think it would be great to see some X cost cards go in.

The problem is finding things to take out for them. Also, having some more big creatures would probably be more helpful than X mana spells. At least, any common ones I can think of aren't as useful. Do you have any suggestions on what to take out, and what X mana spells you would like to see?
