Brief Overview
This a adaption to one of my favorite decks. It runs as pretty much just UB control until we reach our tipping point; we keep the board in our favor until we can combo out blightsteel.
Core Mechanic
We can get our Blightsteel out one of two ways:
This works because Blightsteel is the only target in the deck that is an artifact. It is also the only non-legendary creature card in the deck.
Support
In order to use Shape Anew , we need to supply a valid target. We can do this by targeting the tokens created using Master's Call , or targeting an animated Inkmoth Nexus.
In order to use Jalira, Master Polymorphist's ability, we need to supply a valid target. We can do this by targeting the tokens created using Master's Call , or targeting an animated Inkmoth Nexus or Creeping Tar Pit .
Card Justifications
Land
- Creeping Tar Pit - Fairly decent beater. Target for Polymorphism. Provides
- Hallowed Fountain - Solid
- Inkmoth Nexus - A threat on its own, as well as a target for both Shape Anew and Jalira, Master Polymorphist.
- Misty Rainforest / Scalding Tarn - Fetch our dual lands.
- Watery Grave - Solid
Creatures
- Blightsteel Colossus - This guy can end a match with one hit, plus he's a personal favorite.
- Jalira, Master Polymorphist - She brings a targeted Polymorph to the table.
Instants
- Condescend - Early counter and sets up our draws.
- Dissolve - Solid counter that also sets up our draws.
- Into the Roil - Keeps us alive longer and can replace itself.
- Mana Leak - Good counter, especially early.
- Master's Call - Gives us targets for our searches.
Sorceries
- Shape Anew - Turns a 1/1 into an 11/11. Like steroids, but better.
- Thoughtseize - A strong way to keep the hate away.
Enchantments
- Detention Sphere - Good removal.
