Maybeboard

A fairly aggressive green aggro deck that utilized a fair amount of cute combos to draw as much value as possible. The deck is capable of some very explosive starts and is a blast to pilot. I love the deck because it feels like a synergistic combo deck as much as it feels like an aggro deck.

The main synergy is Exemplar of Strength + Young Wolf , which lets you drop a 4/4 on turn 2 for upside. The reason for this is through Young Wolf's undying mechanic. When Exemplar of Strength enters the battlefield, it must put 3 -1/-1 counters on a creature you control. Since young wolf comes back when it dies, it makes a good target for these counters. This lets Exemplar of Strength become a 2 mana 4/4. Whats interesting is that even when the wold has "undied", the +1/+1 counter is negated by a -1/-1 counter before it dies, so that no +1/+1 counter remains when it officially dies. This allows Young Wolf to again come back from death. Strangleroot Geist also works instead of Young Wolf in this way. Experiment One is another ideal one drop, as a followup Strangleroot Geist allows for 4 damage turn 2.

Now this may seem a bit awkward to assemble, but the deck has built in ways to utilize these cards if drawn later in the game. An opening with Lotleth Troll allow you to throw away an unwanted late game Young Wolf or an Exemplar of Strength with no good targets. Narnam Renegade is a bit awkward in the deck, but can help boost your board after a turn 3-4 Wolf + Exemplar combo. Winding Constrictor can make most interactions become double effective when you are of to a slower start.

The deck finished off with Dreg Mangler and Rancor all of which are good inclusions in an aggressive green deck. Avatar of the Resolute is a solid 2 drop at its lowest, but can become massive after the happenings of a Wolf, Geist, Ooze, Renegade, or Troll.

The deck feels great to play, as each card interacts beautifully with the others. Take for example this turn sequence.

-Turn 1 Land + Experiment One

-Turn 2 Land + Strangleroot Geist: Geist triggers Experiment One's evolve. Attack for 4.

-Turn 3 Land + Exemplar of Strength: The experiment's evolve trigger goes on the stack, then Exemplar of Strength places -1/-1 counters on the Geist in response. Strangleroot Geist dies and comes back with undying. A second Experiment One evolve trigger goes in the stack. The second evolve trigger resolves first and the 2/2 Ooze sees the 3/2 Geist and becomes a 3/3. Then the first evolve trigger resolves. The 3/3 Ooze sees the 4/4 Exemplar and becomes a 4/4. Follow this up with a revolted Narnam Renegade or a Rancor and go to town. (I am fairly certain my rules knowledge is correct here, correct me if not)

This sequence on turn 3 leaves you with a 4/4 Experiment One, a 4/4 Exemplar of Strength, a 3/2 Strangleroot Geist, and a 2/3 Narnam Renegade. And 7 of that power can attack Turn 3. This is just one of the fun sequences this deck can pull out.

Any suggestions on cards that I missed or ways to optimize this deck are greatly appreciated! Thank you for your time and have a great day!
