Cleaning Up The Lists —April 25, 2017

Dropping The Maybeboard as these cards can all be suited to personal preference but basically do the same thing. Also dropping the few cards I have listed in the sb. That is also a meta decision and my current sb reflects that.

I've kinda thought of making the same type of deck, except using Conjurer's Closet to flicker every single turn. I'd consider using Obelisk of Urd and/or Coat of Arms to make them bigger and meaner.

Thanks for suggesting cards for the deck! I like the idea of Conjurer's Closet. It seems interchangeable with Galepowder Mage. I prefer cards that are white for the chroma/devotion trigger for Springjack Shepherd and the mage can be tutored for with Kithkin Harbinger. Obelisk of Urd and Coat of Arms are both great alternatives to Eldrazi Monument. I prefer the monument because it makes them indestructible which amuses me. And they do not need that much of a buff, You will get a lot of goats pretty quick once your engine comes online. But those are great suggestions and would be great additions to the deck.

how about Reveillark, Restoration Angel? maybe sideboard Crusade?

Hello SpittyBoo, thank you for your suggestions. All of those are amazing cards!

Reveillark would be perfect as a sideboard answer to a removal heavy deck. I actually do not stall from removal very much. My win conditions are from ETB effects. Once they are on the field all of the flicker effects protect them from removal. But I am adding that to the sideboard. (Which does not exist yet so the 'lark will be the 1st one in it!
Restoration Angel is an awesome upgrade to add to the deck. I will see if I can find a trade for them. Another great card.
Crusade would be a nice game 2 switch for the anthems once I see my opponent's deck. I will put it in and find some.

Thank you for your suggestions!

Trading Post maybe

Hey 4W3S0M3. Thanks for mentioning Trading Post. That card is super with amazing synergy with Springjack Pasture. I got a playset and tested with them and realized a couple of things. Firstly, it needs to be built around for what it does to shine in a deck and it kind of duplicates the pasture while being more targetable and taking longer to put into play. I think it is great as part of a combo engine or as card advantage in a recursion deck. Neither of which works with this particular deck. I am working on something that focuses on abusing Trading Post but it won't be showing in this deck.

Thank you though for taking the time to check out my deck!

Hi I'm looking for a budget deck how can i take out akromas memorial to swap with something else?

GOAT_LORD says... #8

Just saying why not intangible virtue?

July 23, 2015 11:05 a.m.

Hello, GOAT_LORD. You can swap out Akroma's Memorial for any artifact or white enchantment or even a creature that enhances your creatures and/or your goats. I use the memorial and the monument mostly for entertainment value because of how unkillable either of those makes my goat tokens. But any card that enhances their power is fine, you just need a +1/+1 to be able to attack for damage with the goats. Intangible Virtue is a good way to do that. I personally do not use it because I prefer cards that buff all of my creatures and not just some of them selectively. But you could swap any of the buffing cards out and use Intangible Virtue in their place and see how it runs.

Thanks MagicMarc, I made a few changes to your deck and it seems to run really well with intangible virtue. The 7 mana cost on Akroma's Memorial didn't get the over all buffs against players like red aggro who hit hard on turn 3. I love this deck I also like Mist meadow Skulk in this deck. Protection from creatures with power 3 or greater really helps you stall for a really affective chroma count in the early game with Springjack Shepherd. The Akroma's Memorial is a great card but I prefer a early game +1/+1 and a affected like vigilance or first strike to make an opposing threat in the early game. I've been looking for a big artifact like Akroma's Memorial but couldn't find that does the same thing. Obelisk or Urd didn't work either because it high mana cost. Let me know if you found a artifact that works :D

MagicMarc you check out my list for this deck at my account. Iroas, God of Victory makes for a hilarious affect on my goats.

Mistmeadow Skulk is another one of my favorite early drops. That guy can be a house vs some decks.

Just wanted to say, this deck is awesome, I love it. I have one possible suggestion Knight of the White Orchid, gives you 2 devotion and can pull you out a plains and has first strike!

I also just remembered Rhys the Redeemed he can double your goats in the late game, kinda a pricey card for a casual deck, but he might be worth it.

July 30, 2015 11:05 p.m.

MagicMarc says... #15

Hello, silverwolf5o thanks for the vote and for your suggestions. Both of them are good ones. I like the Knight of the White Orchid but since it cannot be tutored up with the Kithkin Harbinger I am going to add it to the maybeboard as an alternative card to the Knight of Meadowgrain slot. It is a great card with that land dig ability. Rhys the Redeemed is kind of a "win more" card in that it will simply up the number of goats I have. But if I am already packing some goats, I might be in winning mode anyways. It also is not tutor-able with the harbinger. I will add it too as an alternative card. And yes, it is a little pricey for casual stuff but it still rocks.

As fun as the deck is to play, it might be a little slow for competitive Modern and you would need a serious sideboard setup. Thanks for the comment, RandomGenesis

My first deck was a Red/White goat deck. I ran Soul Warden and Soul's Attendant, and focused more on the life gain effects (Ajani's Pridemate was a real threat). You're flying/blink creatures are something I wish I had thought of.

silverwolf5o says... #19

Hey again, i have decided to build a budget version of this and one of my choices was to use Phalanx Leader you just bounce him he triggers before he leaves and puts counters on all your goats.

September 22, 2015 8:38 p.m.

MagicMarc says... #20

thanks qweer! Glad you like the deck! silverwolf5o that guy is great! He helps with chroma/devotion and getting counters on your goats if you blink him is awesome. You could run a set of them and skip the anthem cards, ajani and the artifacts. Great card alternative! I am adding it to the maybeboard!

i already have an ajani to use but yeah i'm swapping out the anthems

Ah! Where is your Venser, the Sojourner! Such a good card. Also, all hail the goat token! +1 Check out my goat deck from a long time ago Can I Marry Your Daughter? Fun times.

September 22, 2015 10:02 p.m.

MagicMarc says... #23

Hi wolfging! Venser would be good but kind of felt I would be winning off of him instead of the goats so I would rather keep him out just for flavor. I added a comment to your deck too. I upvoted it a long time ago so could not add a +1 this time. Great story for the deck.

gotta run more removal to get rid of the Goatnappers!

November 23, 2015 7:11 p.m.

MagicMarc says... #25

Naw, a Goatnapper can have a goat, he's not going to do much with a 0/1 token on his side. Especially if playing red.
