Nip Gwyllion combos extremely well with Edge of the Divinity . Mine isn't a Pauper build, but I run both of those in my B/W Vampire deck and I've found his strength to match quite well with my uncommon/rare options. He's a great turn 1 drop.
Mourning Thrull is another good common option to consider that I run along with Edge.
Tithe Drinker could be another good choice, as his ability is significantly cheaper and more useful than Acolyte of Xathrid . Seems like a pretty decent Pauper build tho all in all - kudos! +1

There's no reliable way in mono-black to set power and toughness. Every brain cell is screaming Godhead of Awe, but that doesn't work.
How about something like Bitterblossom and Blood Artist? This basically turns Grandmother Sengir into an higher-costed Acolyte of Xathrid--not a great place to be, but with the potential of using dying creatures. Create tokens, kill 'em, benefit from their death. Maybe Grave Pact or Skullclamp in there. Turn it into a less-efficient sacrifice engine.

No Mercy will even destroy creatures you control that deal damage to you, such as Pestilence Demon, but will ignore creatures that cause you to just lose life, such as Acolyte of Xathrid.

Quick Add's low limit seems to be 2 letters. "Acolyte of " will properly display Acolyte of Xathrid and Acolyte of the Inferno, and "bathe in " will display Bathe in Dragonfire and Bathe in Light.

Found it: Archers' Parapet. Early game blocker that lets Ooze kill the table, perfect.
Deathrite Shaman is also intriguing, and Acolyte of Xathrid and Blightspeaker are good as backups.
