Fuck even after store credit I still have to spend $90 on delver...
Goodbye vendilion clique... Never really got to try you :'(
At least snaps are going to drop in price next week and that might help me build the deck affordably

The really sad part though, is that I'm currently trying to build the RW Sun & Moon Nahiri control deck (just missing a few chalices for it yet). If people can't handle the Ponza deck then they'll really hate it if I ever get this other deck put together :/

xmage is superior to cockatrice btw. It's got rules enforcement. It's very much like free mtgo

I don't think anything will come of it. I think part of the reason is because it is a natural effect of new players entering the format with the standard cards they have (eldrazi). If given enough time, new decks will appear and the percentages will change.

i agree with this. i think theyre somewhat cheap to build relative to the power of the deck, and pretty linear to play. i haven't piloted them before though; just my opinion based on matches against them.

IMO modern needs to see no bannings for a year or so. People need to learn how to adapt again.

i keep seeing people complain about how modern is dying. i would posit that if it is dying, it is most likely due to everyone bitching and whining about broken decks, leading to bans, leading to a less diverse meta.

I've been saying this since before Pod was banned scrotality.

Thats true lol JaceArveduin
Also, can we post decks here and ask for advice, or is that for the advertise your modern deck thread?

Yeah, that makes sense, and oddly enough Runed Halo has worked well for me against the eldrazi menace as well.

so i dunno about grixis, but the when i play against bant eldrazi with jund Night of Souls' Betrayal does serious work

Oh damn that's pretty good. It doesn't shut off the bigger dudes but it kills the dorks and scions for sure. I like it!

Playing Knightfall, I usually bring in 1 or 2 Izzet Staticaster.
Knightfall has a pretty good matchup against bant eldrazi if you're meta is overrun with it.

FWIW, Night of Souls' Betrayal makes scions dead, TKS boltable, and you can eat Reality Smashers with Tasigur. Solid tech, IMO
February 26, 2017 1:09 a.m.
True, do note that Curse of Death's Hold also exists. I believe it has seen some play.

A bit of background. I have all the non-basic lands for the Jeskai color scheme except for two copies of Sulfur Falls and a playset of Scalding Tarn. I have a Watery Grave and two Blood Crypt for the Grixis landbase, and can trade my Flooded Strands for Polluted Deltas. I have Flooded Strands and two Hallowed Fountains for the Esper landbase. I can sell my Jeskai lands to a friend who is looking to build Jeskai Nahiri. Given that, which color scheme would be the best overall to build a midrange/control deck around? Thanks a lot! You guys are lifesavers.

"which color scheme would be the best overall to build a midrange/control deck around?"
Jund
February 26, 2017 6:49 p.m.
APPLE01DOJ says... #21
It won't be midrange but of those choices I would build Esper in an U/W fashion.
February 26, 2017 7:03 p.m.
tlhunter07 says... #22
So, if none of those are midrange, could I build a midrange deck that is not over a grand? (i.e. no Jund)

Isn't there like a 4c (jeskai based) aggro deck with mantis rider and whatnot?

The deck looks like a giant piece of crap. I love it.

I like how Cheerios got a top 16 in the SCG Classic this past weekend. The SB choices in that list look pretty sweet. I was able to catch some of the day 1 coverage, and saw a list win on turn 2 twice in the same match. It wasn't the same list that got the top 16 spot, but I think the deck is now more of a force in the modern metagame :)
February 27, 2017 6:58 a.m.
Ohthenoises says... #28
The second list I posted is far more reasonable. It's an older list and could use some updates I'm sure but it's a not bad shell

Is there any way to justify not running Serum Visions in Jeskai Midrange?
February 27, 2017 7:13 p.m.
Dredge4life says... #32
Not really. Visions is a really good card in Modern and any deck that can run it usually does. What were you thinking about running instead?

Basing this question upon Shahar Shenhar's UWR Midrange deck that won 2013 Worlds. Obviously just using as a reference, but curious about the viability of it/why he did it.
EDIT: Dredge4life I am not really considering it, just wondering why he did it.

Page link isn't working. I'm not sure either, but it's Shahar Shenhar, so I'm assuming he had good reason.

AtomicEmpire I don't agree :) I prefer this artwork tbh, he's looking more aggressive and mean. It fits more my idea of a goblin.
Also, the gesture he makes with his hand while starring at the map he's like 'WTF I do have to cross this freakin bridge really?!'. The flavor is real, I might even trade my 2 original copies for these ones to complete my playset :)

Have you guys seen the Ryan Overturf Grixis Delver list featuring Death's Shadow?

I think it's decent. The shell probably needs more editing to make the incorporation of Death's Shadow truly successful, but his deck's a start.

SwaggyMcSwagglepants says... #40
Deaths shadow is insane. Like unbelievably insane. These decks are so good because you can have fast mana, a low curve, and you can't really attack into them because their Death's Shadow will hit harder back. I think the various death's shadow decks are just waaay better than anything else in the format.

i love the idea of running delver with death's shadow, but i think goyf is a stronger pairing. especially now that git probe is banned :/
March 5, 2017 2:24 p.m.
GeminiSpartanX says... #43
scrotality- I think Jund is used more since often the first turn of death's shadow goes something like: fetch, shock myself, then Thoughtseize or burn myself with a Tarfire to enable a 5/5 death's shadow the next turn by fetching/shocking again while cycling Street Wraith. Burning yourself seems to be a normal line of play for that deck, making red an important color.
March 6, 2017 6:35 a.m.
SwaggyMcSwagglepants says... #44
Free Win Red looks super good in this meta. 4 maindeck Chalices, Blood Moons and Ensnaring Bridges kills off Death's Shadow. and Trondrazi can't cast sprlls or swing into it. Might start buying cards for that deck.
March 6, 2017 10:19 a.m.
GeminiSpartanX says... #45
SwaggyMcSwagglepants- I hope you already have the chalices. I was able to buy 1 before the first spike a few weeks ago, now it looks like they're going to settle for around $70 :/
Blood Moon getting a reprint will help offset the cost though.

Ohthenoises says... #46
To be fair there IS the Nameless Inversion plan instead of Tarfire.
You are missing Battle Rage still but everyone always forgets about Inversion, I suppose Inversion could also be used to pump up a big goyf. A 6/7 turning into a 9/4 would be pretty decent.

That's true. There are some decks that are hard to overcome. I will never look at you the same knowing you play Jund, for example :).
