New Combo Of sorts

Commander (EDH) forum

So I don't know if other people have found this yet but looking at EDHREC it seems not. This isn't an infinite win the game combo but it seems very powerful to me. It is Ghost of Ramirez DePietro + any transmute card, lets say Drift of Phantasms. Each turn lets say you tutor for something with the transmute card, and since you discard it to transmute it you can get it back when Ramirez deals damage. I use this in my wheel deck where I can get either a wheel or a synergy/combo piece. What does everyone think of this?

Combat damage is going to be your big issue since anything small chumps Mr. DePietro and he has no other evasion. When it works it'll be fun and annoying though

You'll want to splash in some unblockable enchantments and maybe some landwalk to make sure you're always getting through. But yes, this is a solid synergy

That does seem very good, a repeatable tutor is very powerful. I don't think that combat damage is going to be a problem since there will almost always be people who can't or won't block the ghost.

Now that I think about it, this actually could be potentially theoretically hypothetically maybe kind of an infinite game winning combo IF

You were able to continuously tutor for extra turn spells with the transmute so that you could attack to trigger DePietro as many times as you needed.

(Assuming you had some way to repeatedly shuffle back the extra turn spells. That's kind of hard to do though is part of the issue. Another possibility would be something like extra combat spells and a way to continuously produce mana, but again, similar issue...)

Reznorboy, Last Chance + Ghost of Ramirez DePietro + Muddle the Mixture + Junktroller Infinite turns infinite combat damage with Ramirez. Also you can get Last chance with the muddle so its a two card combo cuz ramirez is the commander.

I_Want_To_PlayAllTheDecks Last Chance will cause you to lose at the beginning of the second turn's end step unless you have something like Sundial of the Infinite. But yes, otherwise the combo would work

Last Chance makes you lose at the end of turn though.

You could instead do Second Chance, a transmute card of CMC 3, Junktroller, and use something like Necropotence to get your life to less than 5.

Karn's Temporal Sundering + Ethereal Usher with the Ghost and the troller

That way you can also bounce blockers.

Karn's Temporal Sundering exiles itself.

Partner including black, either Epitaph Golem or Reito Lantern + Isochron Scepter + Entomb and any extra turn spell that doesn’t exile or reshuffle.

You can stay Mono with Ethereal Usher and Walk the Aeons.

I like that Entomb on a stick with the Reito Lantern backup that Azdranax posted. In case something messes up the combat damage step for Ghost of Ramirez DePietro then the lantern can let you get another shot at the card you entombed.

For the black partner, how about Tormod, the Desecrator to produce some blockers while Ramirez keeps on attacking? And yes, I know Tormod's zombies enter tapped.

Tymna the Weaver would likely be the most competitive, allowing for a stax, control, voltron type build with plenty of removal and tutors to put together all the elements to go to infinite turns with 10 mana and the combo pieces noted.

Yeah that actually seems like a pretty decent deck. I won't be going in that direction cuz it feels to good for my playgroup but I hope someone on the site builds it.

Props! the transmute value was a nice find
Dream Halls Seems like an auto include
Note: Necropotence first effect prevents discarding

personaly i feel dredge would be amazing with this as a commander.

It is a neat interaction. Recurring tutors tends to lend itself to repetitive lines to victory that get stale to play and play against, but you can't argue against them being powerful.

The fact that this is a partner commander grants you a lot of deck building flexibility as well.

It's not my style, but there is no doubt that this can do powerful things and needs to be respected at a table.
