Should I add Burgeoning?
Commander Deck Help forum

Thanks to Consiracy2 I have gotten my hands on a Burgeoning (I got it in the draft). I was wondering if I should add it in my Yasova Dragonclaw deck or not? If it goes in, what should be cut?
Here is the deck link:

If you started running stuff like Consecrated Sphinx, Well of Ideas, Blue Sun's Zenith, Mind Spring, Braingeyser, etc, you'll have a much higher chance of flooding your hand with lands

Always run burgeoning. If u play it turn 1 and have 2-3 other lands in your hand, you can ramp out all of those lands by your second turn. That's insanity. Even later on, it's fine, because it lets you spit out all the extra land you drew.

Let's answer this with an example:
friend needed to borrow a deck
Why not slivers?
They T1 burgeoning.
They play a land for each person.
On their T2 they play an untapped land for turn and hard cast Sliver Overlord
So in short, yes, you always run burgeoning.

While the rule of thumb is of course to always run Burgeoning and Exploration in any green deck, I would say that Burgeoning is even worthwhile in duel commander, especially given your deck and commander.
I play Yisan, the Wanderer Bard, which is similar to Yasova in that it's a green 3-drop that the deck kinda revolves around. That being said, any and every way to get them out ASAP is necessary. Even if you keep a hand with only 3 lands and Burgeoning, that still gives you a turn 1 play with enough value for turn 2 Yasova, which might be a turn too soon for some opponents to deal with.
That's not even mentioning the potential insane value of a 5-6 land hand with burgeoning and multiple opponents; while not probable it is possible, and every player that uses it can recant at least one game where they effectively Manabond'd their hand by turn 2.

I have been wanting to add it to Predatory Instinct for awhile. In my deck I can bounce lands to my hand to untap Yisan now I won't be losing mana doing it on an opponents turn because now I can replay those lands on their turns. That's great value and quite efficient

Burgeoning has insane synergy with the Rangers, but it's also amazing mana fixing for multicolored decks in that you can add things like bounce lands and Karoo-type lands without feeling too bad about it.

Thanks for all the input everyone, I'll add it to the deck.
(still gotta figure what to take out, especially since I also got Selvala's Stampede which may need me cutting a second card from the deck)

Always, unless you're running a very aggressively low land count - under 35 and even then maybe unless in the 30-32 range. With the exception that if you can draw several cards each turn it can still pay off.

I ended up with a Burgeoning from CN2 as well, and found myself asking the same question. Here's kind of the answer I came up with:
I'd run Burgeoning if I'm running a high number of ramp cards that put the tutored lands into my hand. I see that you have Cultivate and Kodama's Reach in there, but I'd also be looking for things like Armillary Sphere in the list, to get lands out of the deck and into my hand. Additionally, just general card advantage and card draw would help here as well.
Aside, if having lands directly leads to a faster win-con, like in Omnath, Locus of Rage, or other landfall boons like Avenger of Zendikar, then I'd be all in.
As is, you've got a 36 land deck, and Burgeoning can help you ramp, especially early on when everyone's hitting their land drops, but it can only go as far as you have lands in hand. I probably wouldn't, at least right away, but I'll let others with more experience with the card toss their two cents in before making a final decision.
