Zada grinds more than just hedrons. Zada grinds faces.
This is a simple Red Goblin Aggro deck that doesn't require a whole lot of... anything. Turns 1-3 you just play whatever Goblins you have like
Goblin Glory Chaser
,
Lavastep Raider
, maybe
Dragon Fodder
. Turn 4 you play
Zada, Hedron Grinder
. Turn 5 all you have to do is blast Zada with Expedite, draw a ton of cards, and then hopefully play a Brute Strength
+
Sure Strike
and swing out with a bunch of creatures that have +6/+1, Trample, and First Strike.
Your other option is to play a Goblin Piledriver first and then play Expedite to give him Haste, draw a bunch of cards, blast Zada with some steroids and swing out with a bunch of Goblins that have either Trample or First Strike and your Piledriver is just insane. Reckless Bushwhacker is also great to surge in after
Dragon Fodder
for a surprising assault. Goblin Dark-Dwellers let you rinse and repeat the next turn if your opponent is still alive. Play another
Dragon Fodder
if you don't have a Piledriver and again follow up with Expedite to give everyone Haste, and then use the card draw to hopefully buff the field a whole bunch.
This gets even better if you can hold a few turns for more mana and then drop your hand.
The most satisfying win will be the first game you play against someone with a slow deck that doesn't do anything but ramp for 5-6 turns and when they tap out to finally put something down you follow up with Zada and Expedite to draw a bunch of cards and pump everyone with a 2 mana red Overrun.
Sideboard cards include Flameshadow Conjuring to double the Piledriving fun, and some answers to things that the Mainboard isn't concerned about like Smash to Smithereens for artifacts and
Fiery Conclusion
for some damage control.
Sparkmage's Gambit
really shines to clear the way for a one hit kill shot. The
Goblin Freerunner
can be swapped in for Menace if you are having any trouble breaking through defenses.
I'm waiting for the last cards to arrive, but this deck should prove to be total table flipping shenanigans.
Thanks for reading, let me know what you think :)
UPDATE
So I decided that I actually don't like the
Goblin Freerunner
. Mostly because I kept getting the artwork confused with Reckless Bushwhacker and misplaying my hand... I know, read the card... Menace, though menacing, is not nearly as effective as Haste which combo's so much better with
Dragon Fodder
and Goblin Piledriver. So much so that I think having 4 of them as Mainboard and moving the Goblin Dark-Dwellers to Sideboard will speed the deck up and make it a bit more consistant. So far I haven't had any issues with Dark-Dwellers, but they haven't been as dynamic as I'd hoped in the mid game. I also like how Harness the Storm is pretty much an identical card but depending on the type of deck I'm up against might work better. It's 2cmc less to play so I can get it down faster, but Dwellers is a 4/4 with Menace and it's effect happens immediately. Harness doesn't happen as quickly, but it does happen every time I play a spell, so it takes the 4 of each instant and sorcery and basically increases that to 7 of each but requires me to have already played one of the same spell to trigger. It is slightly harder to remove than Dwellers because of being an Enchantment, but still not invulnerable. Tough call, I like them both so they will both sit in the sideboard. It's too bad there is no way for their effects to stack because of how they are worded.
Anyways, I also changed out
Titan's Strength
for
Rush of Adrenaline
since they have the same cost but Rush gives Trample which is what Goblin Piledriver sorely needs. I hate the artwork though. I very much do hate it.
I'll keep playing around and figure out what else I might change. I still favor
Sparkmage's Gambit
to
Magmatic Chasm
because of the non-flying limitation on Chasm. I play against a lot of decks that do have flying and it just wouldn't guarantee to get the job done.
Lastly, I decided to add 2 Impact Tremors to sideboard mostly for Multiplayer. I did not enjoy how this panned out in Multiplayer...
