How's it going everyone, this is my first time to write a description, sorry for my poor English, hope that I explain it clearly.
Ok, so two biggest threats this deck must be aware of are "life gain" and "board wipe" type of cards. It's very important to be aggressive while keeping our creatures alive as many as possible.
For "life gain" type of decks, we have a great sideboard card
Tocatli Honor Guard
. Try to protect it with
Dauntless Bodyguard
or
Gideon Blackblade
from the new set. As for the latter, I found
Gideon Blackblade
also doing a good job. Since it's a planeswalker, it can survive from
Find / Finality
,
Kaya's Wrath
and even
Ravnica at War
. The ability to give another creature indestructible during our turn is pretty sweet as well. Aggro creatures themselves are strong enough in this deck, but
Gideon Blackblade
,
Unbreakable Formation
and
Venerated Loxodon
's synergy between vigilance, convoke and put counters is super fun and powerful.
Sideboard has nothing new, except I added 2 copies of
Ravnica at War
. I know there're already too many 4-drops for a deck that only runs 20 lands, but in consider of a mid or late game against control, drakes or like gruul midrange, there's not much we can do to get rid of their big creatures or planeswalkers. Therefore I think this may help at some points.
One more thing to mention, we cut several 2-drops in exchange of 3-drops which will probably cause some mana issues more often. Thus, flip
Legion's Landing
in the early game is another thing to always keep in mind. However, I found that relatively easier than before since now we have Gideon providing an extra way to protect our creatures.
