Simic Counter Ramp

for NTakamura

i dropped red because the only cards that were really adding to the deck were the big creatures at the top end. there are cards that could be added such as Atarka's Command which can ramp, but i didn't think they were worth it.

i simplified the number of big creatures played to Carnage Tyrant and Hydroid Krasis. tyrant is hard to remove which means our big investment of mana doesn't get wasted by our opponents cheap removal like Path to Exile or Terminate. krasis doesn't protect itself, but it does give us value when it enters meaning that even if they remove it, we still get something out of it.

we are now playing much cheaper ramp creatures and other spells. the counter spells are also cheaper which means we can stop early threats from clearing us out.

i threw in reason//believe as it can help filter our draws in the early game. and in the late game you can also just blind cast the second half if you have no other cards in hand. the worst it does is draw you a card but sometimes you could get lucky.

some other notes to help with the deck. Farseek can grab Breeding Pool because its an island. sometimes casting Growth Spiral on your turn so you can use the mana to cast creatures is a good play. this deck isn't amazing but it's just an example of how you might focus up your list based on the ideas you had before.

if you wanted to go more towards the burn route, you could switch out the counterspells for cards like Flameslash and Lightning Bolt. you'd also be able to switch Hydroid Krasis for Combustible Gearhulk. switch the Growth Spiral for something like Atarka's Command
