This a deck idea I am debating purchasing and playing in Modern for a while. It revolves quite heavily on the overuse of nonbasic lands with almost every deck.

Pop out a blood moon turn three with enough kill/burn to last until turn 4/5. Play a liliana and keep her up for as long as possible (unless another is in hand).

Keep control of the board until you can start beating them with demigods.

Sideboard plans include a way to deal with lifegain to turn it into an advantage for me (Rain of Gore), another win condition (liliana Vess), more pyroclasm (slagstorm), Hexproof/indestructible removal, and circle of flame for the delver deck.

The last one on the list seems ill advised until you look at the toughness on clique, snapcaster, and delver. Only delver survives the circle, and I have enough kill/burn to deal with him. The deck that plays these guys also has little interaction with enchantments.

Rain of Gore is huge against soul sisters and hexproof, and moderately effective against deathrite/kitchen finks/huntmaster of the fells.

Because almost no deck in modern runs no creatures right now Liliana Vess works very nicely to kill them when she ultimates. Since this is a control deck, she will likely have not much trouble against creature decks, and little Liliana has already hated out the counter magic.

You may have noticed that I die to burn match-ups. Yep. best I can do is hope to land a demigod with a devour flesh in hand for the next turn, and survive to cast the second in hand. Hopefully I was burning them already and that wins me the game turn 7. Else, I'm very likely going to die. I looked for anti-burn cards. Witchhunter's orb. If I see lots of burn decks around me, I'll replace circle of flame and vendetta with that.

Soul sister's has a decent 1 game against me unless I plop a rain of gore down on turn 2 after seeing a sister. Then I win, so fast. All their creatures kill them as fast they can kill me (except ~4) but I have burn.

Hexproof has the same issue, except less so. I really like a despise and pyroclasm in hand against them. 4 devour flesh, 2 slagstorms, and 2 more Rain of Gore turn this match-up highly towards me.

I'm pretty certain landing a Bloodmoon against Jund or Junk is the best turn 3 I could have against them. combine that with their easily killed creatures (from my perspective) and I have a good match-up. I put in Vess and a single Rain (mostly to try and use up whatever enchantment removal they put in) for the next battles.

Non-delver control match up is tighter. I play bloodmoons to keep the colonades at bay, take out pyroclasms for 2 Vess and 2 Rain. I hope to stick a little Liliana then a big Liliana and/or to beat him faster with my demigods then he can keep up with.

I'm debating adding in more creatures. Thundermaw Helkite is top of my list. I could also go without creatures and play shrieking affliction and more discard, or megrim.

I also cut slaughter games. While they are fantastic, I would only replace the vendettas and that is if I see more control than Jund/Junk.

If you see anything missing. Let me know.

Trinisphere helps soooo much against burn, I wish I had thought of it sooner. A singleton of both the magus of the moon and sowing salts screws with mana bases more and more for the greedy Jund and Junk decks.

After viewing PriestessKikyo1 's profile, I realized that I'm still going to be dealing with the different aggro strategies, each having different ways around my wraths. I won't have much problem with ones with abusive mana bases, but mono-coloured goblins will ruin my day without trinisphere, and an early enough demigod beatdown.

I probably need another good creature. Maybe Olivia Voldaren.
