Izzet Prowess with Gut Punch Package

Pioneer Prowess UR (Izzet)

Johnscast

I'm a bit new to pioneer, but I thought I'd take a stab at 60 card again in this format.

I used to play a prowess deck way back when Khans of Tarkir was in Standard and based it off of that plus some newer cards that I thought would benefit the deck. A lot of inspiration was taken from the current off-meta pioneer Izzet Prowess deck, but this deck works a little differently.

The current pioneer shell runs around 16 creatures, a solid cantrip and removal package, and 4 copies of Treasure Cruise because this deck can run it with how many spells it cycles through. The shell is an Aggro-Midrange deck that can pressure opponents while keeping the board in check.

This is different in a few areas and I'll explain my reasoning. In this list, we take out some cantrips and removal for Titan's Strength and Temur Battle Rage. This allows us to not only be able to win early, but from what I saw, common removal staples like ossification are sorcery speed, heartless act is weaker against this deck (which is because of the creatures chosen), and we can get around damage dealing spells by just casting more spells in response, assuming we play accordingly. Then, to still allow the deck to play more into the midrange area if needed, the creatures chosen have an objectively better prowess in this deck with Sprite Dragon and Electrostatic Infantry gaining +1/+1 counters for each instant and sorcery cast. Ledger shredder acts similarly, but takes a little longer to build up. So the deck becomes an aggressive prowess deck that can pivot into the mid-game game 1. Then if needed, more interaction options are available in the sideboard for things like mono-white humans to play similarly to the original shell. It also has the benefit of allowing the pilot to be able to cast spells on your opponent's turn in some cases without having to worry about missing prowess triggers because of the +1/+1 counters, allowing you to pressure opponents on their turn as well if you can't attack with a creature on a turn, which I thought was a problem with the original deck. I like it just because it fits my play style it encourages, calculated aggression and spell slinging.

TLDR: This deck is a variant of Izzet Prowess in Pioneer that takes the chad unga bunga package instead of the virgin interaction package.
