War-Name Aspirant is probably one of the best aggressive 2-drops in Standard, and hey, is a Warrior. Butcher of the Horde is pretty dang powerful too. It may not be a Warrior, but it's still a 5/4 flier for 4 with the potential to stabilize your life, and it can eat up expendablevGoblin tokens.

Butcher is waaah better than zurgo with how much tokening you're doing. I can see where indestructible is nice and occasionally gaining trample is cool but life stabilizing, hasting, fat ass flier that can be vigilant for 4 cmc is going to beb your best bet as a curve top body.

I was using War-Name Aspirant and another 2 drop 3/2 warrior whose name escapes me at the moment GoldGhost012. War-Name Aspirant fell to a few things. A) It doesn't give anything to any of my other creatures like my tribal warriors do. B) It relies on a specific condition to be met to become as powerful as my current tribal warriors do. And C), there is actually a severe lack of strong 1 toughness drops in KTK. Sure there is tokens, but there are much better cards that can deal with tokens.

Yeah I understand that VampireArmy. I just wanted to use Zurgo Helmsmasher because he's a warrior, and a 7 power indestructible attacker the moment he comes out is really beastly. I'll do a swap though, because the flying and lifegain I think are much more beneficial.

Something to keep in mind about Butcher of the Horde and Bloodsoaked Champion is that you can have out the champion, sac him, give an ability to the butcher, then reanimate the champion during combat. Provided that you are past the declare attackers step you can reanimate the champion as many times as you have mana to do so. This means that the two of them essentially read: 1: choose one - Butcher of the Horde gains lifelink, haste, or vigilance until end of turn.

Femme_Fatale says... #5

Yeah there is that, I'll just have to rewrite the description a bit. Unfortunately, Bloodsoaked Champion does not have haste. Wah.

There is another thing to consider Ohthenoises that I noticed with Bloodsoaked Champion , is that I can swing with him every turn even if he gets killed. Because even if he is the only one that swung, I can bring him back the same turn once he gets killed. This is really useful in providing pressure on my opponent, and it also helps with Mardu Ascendancy and Purphoros, God of the Forge .

I really should get on to re-writing this description.

Working on a Rabble Mardu deck in standard aswell i play 4 soldier of the panthion because i think protection from multicolored is really where you wanna be at after rotation plus i am a big fan of chief of the edge but not so much scale and athreos, maybe its because athreos really have dissapointed me since "Journey" but idk.but how well have chief of the scale been working out for you in testing ? otherwise sweet deck

http://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/warrior-tribal-bw/ This is my take on the deck. Sure you can splash for Red but I would rather be consistent and Athreos is just an absolute powerhouse.

Femme_Fatale says... #8

I'm unsure as to how Soldier of the Pantheon will do in standard now. I currently have Bloodsoaked Champion and Thoughtseize as my one drops which are far more powerful. In my side I have Mardu Hateblade , which deals with creatures far more better than something with protection that doesn't get buffed nor prevent the utility of my opponents.

As for Athreos, God of Passage , I'm tempted to cut him, as Purphoros, God of the Forge has one me various games just by being there. 2-8 damage per turn with him is beastly.

Femme_Fatale says... #9

I'm not "Splashing" for red Zeptideo, red is a legitimate requirement for the competitive value for this deck. 14 cards containing red, 8 of them are VITAL for this deck to function properly. Mardu Ascendancy , Mardu Charm and Butcher of the Horde are all extremely powerful. Butcher of the Horde can win board states in which I'm down 5 creatures, Mardu Ascendancy populates my field to be able to go through every single defensive stance and Mardu Charm allows for such versatility against any deck that there is no reason not to run it.

If I was not restricted by my standard spending I would have either attempted to make Mardu Warrior Tribal or Mardu Tokens or maybe even a mix of both. XP Anyways for suggestions may I recommend Tormented Hero as he is a one drop 2/1 body oh and the best part a WARRIOR! :3

I hope this will be the next big thing +1 from me! :3

September 14, 2014 12:42 a.m.

Femme_Fatale says... #11

Tormented Hero is really lack-luster Blizzicane. Unlike Bloodsoaked Champion , he doesn't reanimate. Which is a really important part of choosing Bloodsoaked Champion . And what exactly does mardu have in targeting that makes the heroic actually useful?

September 14, 2014 12:56 a.m.

Blizzicane says... #12

While his abilities are irrelevant for this deck he is a aggressive 2/1 body for one and also warrior in your case. But I just read you were going for aggro-midrange deck (I totally over looked the midrange part) so you only really need eight one drops as I was thinking more towards aggro. XP

Oh and by the way I was not sure if it is just my browser but in your description your cards appear to be leaning out of there image box. :S

That is a problem with the indenting code. Yeago still hasn't fixed that issue yet.

Femme_Fatale says... #14

And another thing, aggro is practically nonexistent in standard at the moment. I literally say NOTHING that would make aggro or RDW or any fast paced deck actually any good. This is as fast as Standard is going to get. WotC were right in saying that Mardu was speed. Because Mardu is the fastest we will ever see.

This looks really nice, Femme_Fatale! The only thing that really stands out to me as kinda jankey is the 2x Goblin Rabblemaster , and the Atheros. Imo, you should have at least 3 rabblemasters, or none at all, as you seem to be split between token gen/burn, and the Atheros/Butcher of the Horde combo.

I'd cut either the Atheros (my preference to cut, honestly. Never liked the guy) and add in a 3rd rabblemaster, and add another purphoros somehow, or rabblemaster entirely and focus on the Butcher combo.

Just imo.

Femme_Fatale says... #16

Yeah I agree with you slovakattack, Athreos, God of Passage has shown itself to be weaker and weaker and weaker in every game I've played with and against. He was on the chopping block on the first few games, and now I'm just gonna replace him entirely for Purphoros, God of the Forge .

As for your Goblin Rabblemaster thing, I don't think that will hold any relevancy in the new standard. There is like, no aggro and hardly any goblins to warrant making Goblin Rabblemaster a 3 of. I already have 2 other 3 ofs that are much more important than him anyways. He is however a necessary inclusion as my 3 drop creature, and is really powerful. He also is really weak in the defensive game, so having him at two means he isn't messing with my game plan as much as he would if he was at 3, but yet still helps out enough that I'm happy to draw him and isn't a necessity so I'm not wondering where he is.

Finally ... +1? puppy eyes

+1 for warriors

Have you considered Mardu Hordechief? (Not yet in the database sadly.) He's a 2/3 warrior for (2)(w) and have a Raid ability of putting a 1/1 warrior token into play when he etb. That's 2 warriors for 3 mana and will give lots of value to your chiefs.

I made a warrior deck too although i'm ditching Chief of the Scale in favor of a faster aggro. Aye-aye Chief!! if you're interested.

I made this a couple days ago, but no +1s and no comments. why? Is there like a feature where I have to pay money to get people to see my decks more? I only get one deckcycle per day.

Hello! Huge fan of R/W/B decks and the such. Have not seen the suggestion of Iroas, God of Victory yet so I'd like to make it. I'd replace Purphoros, God of the Forge with him personally but he does have great synergy with the amount of creatures entering. With Iroas you'd be able to swing and have some blockers (minus Bloodsoaked Champion ) while also having a wide spread Madcap Skills effect. Admittedly he would probably never become a creature. Great looking deck though. Maybe you could hit me up with some suggestions on what's going to be my new Standard R/B/W Dawnbreaker's Assault!? Not sure it's direction at the moment, anything is up for discussion.

There are numerous different reasons why someone would get more upvotes than someone else if their decks were both the same DaigarStrasis.

  • Number one: Deck Title. If you notice, all of my decks have a unique title. A unique title attracts people to a deck the same way a hook attracts people to a book.
  • Number two: Best Description. A shitty deck can go really far if you have an excellent description for it. Take Solomon's decks for example. Many of his decks have VERY questionable choices (legacy rdw, looking at you), however he gets really good upvotes because of his superior description.
  • Number three: Know Your Direction. There are three different directions the T/O community likes, in this order. 1) Joke decks. They currently hold all the top deck ratings here on T/O. 2) Unique decks. My Kor Legions deck is so high because it hasn't been seen before. 3) Competitive decks. Something like this, which I knew immediately to go competitive with, garners lots of attention as a well made deck. Competitiveness also incorporates that some users like to playtest decks to see if they actually work. If they do, then they upvote.
  • Number four: Advertise. Simply asking for help in the forums will frequently get attention to your deck.
  • Number five: Upgraded User. Upgraded users have fancy usernames, and they are noticed more in the community than the nonupgraded ones. There is a sort of sense that all nonupgraded users get clumped together in to one identity, and it isn't until you upgrade that people will recognize your opinion and talents. Upgraded users also get three deckcycles per day.
  • Number six: Feature Tokens. This is where you have to spend money. Buying feature tokens will allow you to do a feature queue of a deck, which is advertising the deck at the top of the website. This is where you'll get most of your attention.
  • Number seven: Catchy Slogan. If you notice, the first line of each of my decks hold a catchy slogan. This is sort of like the hook for bringing people in. The title attracts people's attention, the slogan is for hooking people in and making them stay. This slogan is also adjusted to fit the amount of text that is visible when you deck-cycle. People like perfection.
  • Number eight: Know the Times. You must know exactly when to deckcycle or feature queue. This comes with experience, but know that most people finish school at 3PM, and work usually ends at 5PM.

That is how I do it, and it is all fairly common sense. Hope it helps~

Iroas, God of Victory doesn't win me games fast enough Viral_Assassin. I removed Athreos, God of Passage for that reason. I can't really attack and then block with it as it still leaves me wide open for assault, and can't guarantee me a victory. If I needed to be able to swing and block, I've got Brave the Sands in the side for that.
