17 players total -> 5 rounds of swiss (no top 8)

ROUND 1 vs monoblack aggro: (of course I dropped my Drown in Sorrows for more disruption against control decks...)

Even after going to 25 lands from a previous 24 I had to mulligan down to 5. I still just about held him off though game 1 but I couldn't get to 5 mana with a Vraska the Unseen in my hand to help me stabilize. Game 2 was better and I was on tilt from previous game due to the mana screwing so I made a misplay and didn't use 2 removal spells instead of casting Jace, Architect of Thought and it cost me. (I would have take out 2 of his creatures and dropped jace to minimize damage against 2 creatures instead of 4)

Loss 0-2, Overall 0-2-0

ROUND 2 vs Monowhite Bestow

This was an interesting concept as all of his creatures either had bestow or heroic so he was getting HUGE benefits from everything he casted. He actually gained 10 life off of an Ordeal of Heliod game 1 turn 3 as I had nothing but scry lands, but since I'm a midrange deck my removal kept him under control and I swung the momentum back in my favor. Game 2 adding more removal spelled doom for him and this was an easy cleanup.

Win 2-0, Overall 2-2-0

ROUND 3 vs U/W defenders

This was vs a kid who didn't play very much but he had a bye round 1 so his record was the same as mine. Unfortunately for him, Desecration Demon flied right over all of his ground defenders and he didn't have countermagic up to deal with him both games so this was an easy win.

Win 2-0, Overall 4-2-0

ROUND 4 vs Gruul Midrange/Devotion

This was one of the decks I haven't had much practice against seeing as how I'm used to Gruul/Jund monsters, but since it is slower it made it possible for me to take control of the board state more easily. Game 1 ended with a board state of me having 2 x Reaper of the Wilds out, 2 Sylvan Caryatids and mana up for Abrupt Decay to his 2x Arbor Colossus, 1x Witchstalker, and 1x Boon Satyr (all but 1 colossus attacking). I blocked 2 of his creatures with Sylvan Caryatids, and used Abrupt Decay on the Boon Satyr so I had 3 creatures die and 6 scry triggers off of the Reapers. I dug until I had Putrefy on top and left it. I used to to kill off his remaining blocker and attacked for exactly 8 with the reapers for the win. Game 2 he was in top deck mode against my board state of nothing but a Sylvan Caryatid and he got a Xenagos, the Reveler He was able to overrun me with 2/2's before I could draw an answer. Game 3 I over sideboarded and brought in Duress to deal with him and Domri Rade before they could resolve, but it ended up costing me as i took out Kiora's Follower for them and she would have allowed me to untap my Desecration Demon that he kept saccing mana dorks to so we went to time and I ran out of turns to kill him.

Tie 1-1-1, Overall 5-3-1

ROUND 5 vs Bant Control (my brother of all people)

Game 1 we both take forever being that I know his deck inside and out and vice versa. He ultimately gets me with a Kiora, the Crashing Wavefoil emblem and AEtherling. Game 2 starts and we only have 8 minutes on the round. Multiple Thoughtseize + Duress make short work of his hand and I turn 6 an AEtherling with a Sylvan Caryatid out (he had not removal in his hand at this time). He then proceeds to top deck 3 removal spells in a round to after we go to time and he keeps AEtherling off of him the whole time (I had not counterspells in hand as I used them earlier to deal with his Sphinx's Revelation and Elspeth, Sun's Champion from resolving). If I had ONE MORE turn I would have finished him off both games.

Loss 1-0-1, Overall 5-4-2

The deck performed EXTREMELY well except against Monoblack aggro. I will be making room in the sideboard for 2 x Drown in Sorrow to help aid in this process (it's also good against other aggro decks as a board wipe so it warrants an inclusion)
