upcoming updates —Jan. 30, 2015
This is an announcement about upcoming updates.
This weekend I will be doing a massive Grammer and spelling overhaul on my articles to improve theit flow and credibility.
This article will experience a significant revamp in the description and some slight changes to the list to reduce redundancies.
I would like to thank every one who read and commented on this post. My goal in this article was never to make a list of the 99 best EDH cards but a list of cards that everyone should at least be aware of and hopefully expose people to new cards.
Remember if you don't see a card on here you think should be included check the description it may just be included alongside another card.
good list however. For people who are new to the format, this is a great jumping off point for finding those cards that hold decks together. What about adding Prophet of Kruphix in the gold? It is pretty much a win condition on its own.

Solemn Simulacrum should be close to a one of in most decks.
Hinder? You have Spell Crumple after all.
Lightning Greaves, Swiftfoot Boots, Mask of Avacyn and Champion's Helm because commanders tend to be targets.
Just a few suggestions...

I believe your Child of Alara observation is incorrect: Child of Alara has been Oracled to "When Child of Alara dies, destroy all nonland permanents. They can't be regenerated." That means that if it's killed and sent to the Command Zone as a replacement effect, it still dies and thus its ability triggers.

In red you might want to think about adding Viashino Heretic and Dwarven Miner/Dwarven Blastminer
All of the Sun's Zenith spells (not necessarily the blue one) like Black Sun's Zenith should be on the list.

Blightsteel Colossus is a pretty good staple imo, I have yet to see a deck that doesnt have space for one more imposing, tramply win-con... unless its zur or something

The number of games I've seen won out of nowhere by Insurrection...Certainly a red commander staple, of which there are few.

JackSlack, read, what you just wrote. It's REPLACEMENT effect. If you use, that replacement effect, Child of Alara's dying is replaced with putting it to command zone.

You left out one card that goes into virtually EVERY commander deck ever created... Sol Ring haha.

Colgate: I wasn't sure on this, but no, I concede the point. (Rule 700.4. The term dies means is put into a graveyard from the battlefield.) I thought it died, would go to the graveyard, and then the latter is replaced. My bad.

I recommend you take the opinion parts out and focus on objective analysis. As you have it now, it detracts very much from the article.
In addition, there are many notable cards that are missing which are better than most of the ones on the list.
Once those points are fixed, along with the spelling and grammar issues that you're already aware of, I think that this has the potential to become useful.

I knew just about all of these, but I had no clue that doubling season didn't affect pw abilities. Thanks for that +1

Doubling Season's only drawback is if your opponent gives you -1/-1 counters. It doesn't double the effects for your opponent, that one is Primal Vigor.
