Metroid_Hybrid I definitely get what you’re saying, especially since my magic experience goes a ways back before then. I was more focused on how lands that produced two or three different colors used to be less-than-ordinary. Today they’re far more commonplace, making a two or three color spell a lot more feasible. A deck with Chromium in it used to be hilariously difficult to pull off, leaning on whatever dual lands you might have (I hadn’t seen one in play until something like 2010) and a couple Celestial Prisms.

Tbh I don't think Paradox Engine should be banned, I do think we should have a conversation about how to deal with powerful artifacts since a) most decks that can abuse them will and b) pretty much every game they come up.

I've seen this conversation about Sol Ring and Helm of the Host too, and I can definitely say this: although some artifacts can literally break a game, there is no better reason to run multi-permanent destruction or prevention. These artifacts aren't going to be banned. In addition, part of the fun in edh is the combos and giant plays that are ultimately unusable in standard or modern due to cost restrictions and pace of the game. Edh, while fast paced at times, would honestly be kind of ruined if we could pull of combos like that.

Also, the other part of it is the fact that most artifacts aren't game warping. It doesn't immediately become a race to who can most quickly steal, destroy or copy the artifact, unlike Prophet of Kruphix .

There is only one artifact that deserves to be banned, at the moment, is Celestial Prism . Just cause it's so bad and I have actually seen people use it.

I second Reaxetion's idea about talking about the evolution of colorless cards. I feel like in some ways they downgraded the power of colorless cards because they don't have a color restriction (e.g cards like Gauntlet of Power vs. Gauntlet of Might), but some cards actually got upgraded into strictly better versions (Celestial Prism vs. Prophetic Prism)

Break Open, if it worked on your guys it would have some playability, as in it turns a 2/2 into something much more terrifying.

Ember Shot I get they were trying to be cautious with red card draw, but really, seven mana, really.

Frazzle Cancel is playable, but not spectacular. Granted this is more splashable, but this also costs a mana more and might not even do anything against certain opponents.

Sky Swallower I know 'Dies to Removal' is a really lame argument, but when this gets tubed you just lose with this almost more than any other creature, no thanks.

Numai Outcast A four mana 1/1 that might get larger in combat, and at that cost it might as well not even have 'Regenerate.'

Apocalypse Chime Part of the 'Hose the Set' cards, this one is double trash because there are so few playable cards in Homeland, and the most famous one is Merchant Scroll, which isn't even something this stops.

Celestial Prism This was probably OK back when it was new, but in this day and age there are so many better colour-fixers.

Juju Bubble Gaining life is generally not great unless it's in a huge burst, and unless you have a whole tonne of mana you aren't doing anything with this will gain maybe 3-4 life. To make matters worse, it has two death conditions so it probably won't even be out for very long.

Cathedral of Serra Not necessarily bad per se, but banding is such a confusing ability, and lets legends band with other legends, because you will of course have a bunch of those in play. There is one for each colour of legends, which is both better and worse than having just one colour have this ability.

I have a whole deck of these really lame cards, which is where I got this list from. :P B45T 3DH 3V4R!
