seshiro_of_the_orochi on Card creation challenge

A character I created myself? Hm...ok, I know. An eternity ago, I participated in an MtG-based forum RPG on a TCG site. In that game, I played as my own version of Sosuke, Son of Seshiro. He was a lieutenant under the warlord Kresh the Bloodbraided, and he abandoned his position after his apprentice Natca (represented by Wild Nacatl) was assassinated by a stranger during a party. I can't remember the rest of his story, but let's do that.
Sosuke, Doubtful Lieutenant
Legendary Creature - Snake Warrior
Vigilance, Deathtouch
Other Warriors you control with lesser power than Sosuke gain deathtouch.
Whenever another warrior you control dies, you may pay . If you do, you may draw a card, then discard a card.
4/6
Repeat, or you may choose a wild if you have no character you want to represent.

Removed: Calming Verse
While Calming Verse is great with Enchanted Evening, it makes the deck a Bracket 4 that is considered mass land denial/destruction. In removing Calming Verse, Tapped Out recognizes that the deck is now a Bracket 3, even though Aura Thief is still in the deck. It's not considered "mass land denia...

Oh, Final Fantasy...how I adore you.
Well then. Lots of fun toys in the Final Fantasy set for pretty much everyone. But we're going to focus on the Knights for this deck obviously, which leads us to a few big hitters: Dion, Bahamut's Dominant
Flip, Summon: Knights of Round, Squall, SeeD Mercenary, [[Summon...

That’s not a bad idea legendofa. The wall is a bit more robust, and that bonus protection seems really nice. I did consider the Leyline but I have notoriously awful luck drawing into them whenever I actually sit down to play. It’s like they’re sentient and aware I need them and bury themselves deeper into the deck like a sand spider.

I like the theme of the deck and a lot of the FF cards you put into it. The deck definitely showcases a lot of new stuff for equipment/artifacts in mono-white. I'd probably opt to not include Worldslayer because of the way I like to play.
Thanks for sharing!
Rhadamanthus on Chaos Orb and Relm's Sketching

The word "battlefield" is being overloaded in Chaos Orb's rules text. The first instance of the word is being used to mean "the battlefield zone" and the second is being used to mean "the physical representation of the battlefield zone". The Orb's text doesn't say anything about a zone change before flipping it, so that means it doesn't change zones and it's on the battlefield through this whole process until it gets destroyed at the end.
I agree with Polaris that it would be best to use related Un/silver/acorn rulings as a guide here, since the "normal" rules of the game don't have any more details on exactly how to play and use dexterity cards and those effects have been solidly in Un/silver/acorn territory for many years now. I remember reading an urban legend of a kitchen-table player who animated Chaos Orb, made a token copy with Dance of Many, then went and got a couch cushion for the token to wipe the entire battlefield.
It's interesting to note that the current Oracle text of Falling Star still says "onto the playing area", so it avoids a lot of the ambiguity and confusion in the Orb's rules text. I wonder why Chaos Orb wasn't re-templated that way as well.

NV_1980 Thanks for the upvote. The age of this deck is a little misleading actually, it started out as a Standard deck during the Return to Ravnica block. Eventually it morphed into my very first Commander deck, and it does hold a special place in my heart. Honestly though, I don't really look for cards for this deck. It just kind of gets cast offs or anything I encounter that fits. The majority of my Commander attention has been focused on my Yarok the Desecrated deck.
Those are good suggestions for sure, and the main reason they aren't in the deck is simply I don't have them. And Athreos is in my Kaalia deck, and I try not to have overlaps in my decks. So no real reasons at all, just circumstantial lol. Mostly though, I prefer this deck to not target with its life loss effects, as I usually use that for clearing a table
Caerwyn on Mark Rosewater's Comments About Defensive …
7 hours ago
As legendofa already touched on, there are a number of defensive cards getting printed. The fact that they are not the priority does not mean this aspect of the game is forgotten - just that it does not appear in significant volume in any given set.
One more point to add to the above - Limited. Defensive decks do not work well in Limited - the round timers in limited are too short and you are not as likely to draft something to close the game. Short times, slow gameplay, and lack of way to close out the game are problems.
Paradoxically, the problem can get worse the more you try to fix those things - increasing the power and frequency of defensive strategies can mean two people decide to draft that strategy or build it from their sealed pool. What does that mean? Mirror matches, where both players lock down the other. I’ve played defense in that environment - I’ve seen games where a player won because the other drew from an empty deck and I’ve played in games where the end of the round was a single tied game, since the first we played went to turns and no one won. It is not fun for anyone.
One final thought, I feel for a number of the threads you make asking why something is, the answer is often “this is important for creating an enjoyable Limited environment.” I am guessing Limited is not a format you play very much (that isn’t meant as a slight - people are welcome to enjoy whatever format they want). Still, I think it would be helpful to ask yourself “is there a Limited reason for this design choice?” when evaluating MaRo’s blog posts.

Thanks for the upvote! It's not deserved, though.
It's just an upgraded version of the 'Blame Game' precon. So the name mostly comes from WotC.
Nevertheless, I appreciate the upvote.
