The best planeswalker
General forum

Ok, so I'm going to open a very general topic: WHO IS THE BEST PLANESWALKER??
Please give reasons for why you think your planeswalker is the best. Thanks!!

So to open up the debate, I will post my favorite planeswalker and my candidate:
So you might think 7 mana is a lot. Let me give you reasons why it's really not for a card this good.
He can be played in any color deck. Simple as that.
He is one of the solidest planeswalkers in MTG. He starts at 6, his +4 keeps him out of range of any attacker.
His abilities are beyond monstrous.
+4 to exile a card from a player's hand. Like discard, but much better, and you can do it on yourself.
-3 to exile anything. Anything. Read that again. You have some ridiculous 20/20 on the board? Done. Some annoying enchantment? Done. But the best is yet to come.
-14 to start the game over. WHAT THE HELL IS THIS???????? You can exile my enchantment. Fine. You can exile my 20/20. Whatever. But you can restart the game and get all of those back?????????????
I'm exited to hear what you think!

For the record, "solidest" is not a word.
The reason to play Karn is in fast mana decks like Tron or 12Post (not sure if 12Post plays him or not). Standard control decks could play him, but outside of that you really need fast mana to be casting Karn, making him a conditionally powerful card.

Lel, there is no such "Best planeswalker".... Karn is good.... But really only in Tron. Elspeth, Knight-Errant is good... But only in some token decks. Jace and Lili are all around good in any builds. But still requires double of a color... Which isn't always playable.....
So I'm going to vote Tibalt, the Fiend-Blooded (ok, joking here, but syou might see what I mean) :)

NorthernRaven is right...this topic should have been phrased as favorite planeswalker instead of best. There is no best card for anything...(opinion, not a challenge) because players each have their own playstyle and things they like. For example...my favorite planeswalker is Liliana of the Dark Realms because she gives me what I want...mana ramp in black and a SICK (situational) creature buff...MTG is a very opinionated game, with MANY players making arguments for individual cards. Even Storm Crow has a MASSIVE following (All Hail), and he is a vanilla 1/2 flyer. Haha

Comparing walker to walker, the answer for "best" will always be Jace, the Mind Sculptor.
However, my new favorite is Ugin.

Those are fair points, so I feel that I should phrase the question differently:
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE PLANESWALKER, AND WHY?
January 1, 2015 4:30 p.m.
All hail our lord and savior Nicol Bolas, Planeswalker.

Oh, that's another question! My favorite planeswalker is Chandra Nalaar. Yes. Just try to look at that artwork. It must be one of the best artworks in all of MTG! (I seriously love it!). Now, this was also my very first planeswalker, and also my very first mythic. So, yea, she is cool.
Although she isn't really good. I have always wanted to make a deck around her. Her ultimate is so sick. A deck were you play her, and then ultimate her.... I don't know how, but that would be soooooo cool! Maybe in a control shell?

My favorite planeswalkers are Domri Rade, Ajani Vengeant and Xenagos, the Reveler. If I had to pick one, however, it would have to be Domri Rade. He's the shit.

The best planeswalker is Jace, the Mind Sculptor.

Unquestionably, Jace, the Mind Sculptor. The real question though, should be who's second.

I honestly don't think jace is the best. Yes, ultimate is game ending, but you could honestly say that for half of the walkers out there. I give a bigger priority to what a plainswalker can do once they get onto the battlefield, because once they are cast, they eat removal and damage ridiculously fast.

Jace has Brainstorm for his 0, fateseal for his plus, and Unsummon for his minus. Those are pretty big things to be doing every turn.
January 1, 2015 7:21 p.m.
In my book, it's not just Jaces' abilities that make him the best, but the fact that he only cost four mana, two of which are even colorless.

Those are valid points, which is why I changed the question to "Who is your favorite planeswalker?"
January 1, 2015 8:48 p.m.
Oh, in that case, it would be the yet-to-be-made Urza planeswalker. And when they do finally make him(which they will), I bet he will be the best yet. ;)

Sorin, Lord of Innistrad ulti could be funny against a JTMS. Just something interesting to throw in there Gideon, Champion of Justice has the potential to ulti 2nd turn. I also like Garruk, Apex Predator and Vraska the Unseen just some really funny ultis. Ironic thing being Garruk in the lore overpowered Jace and almost killed him to find out the location of Liliana yet Jace is one of the most powerful cards in the game lol.

Big fan of Ajani, Caller of the Pride for being cheap and handing out evasion and double strike like it's cool. The new Sorin is pretty sweet too, crapping out flying chudd. What I would like to see them make for a PW is Serra. Then I could have my angel deck for real...

Again, another necro! Why don't people look at the post date?

My favourite walker is the new Narset (because hype) and because Azorius has a solid walker now. Second place goes to Tezzeret, Agent of BOlas becuase Tezerator is one of my favourite decks to play.
GlistenerAgent says... #2
Jace, the Mind Sculptor. Because four abilities. Because win condition. Because Brainstorm on a stick.
Liliana of the Veil comes second, and Elspeth, Knight-Errant after that.
