I recently had an idea for a new modern Delver brew. It sounds fun but not sure how good or bad it actually is. I don't have a deck list yet but here is the concept. I'm calling it Mad Delver.

Creatures:Delver of secrets, Heir of Falkenrath

Madness spells: Fiery Temper, Alms of the Vein

Discard\Draw outlets: Faithless looting, Izzet Charm

For other creatures you could possibly add Young Pyromancer or Stormchaser mage. Like I said im not sure how good or bad this idea is but it does sound fun. Let me know what you think.

  1. What would be the win condition of your deck?

2.What's your budget ?

3.what do you mean by "would also like a lot of the stuff from SOI still in the deck"

DragonsGoddess hit on a lot of the important questions for your deck. It would help us give advice if we knew these things.

The deck does need a lot of help.

The first thing I'd do is try to reduce the number of unique cards you're running. Running one of a card may as well be the same as running zero. You will not see it often enough to make any difference. Choose which cards make the cut and which don't.

It will help if you answer that first question; how does this win? Right now you've got a bunch of things going on, and you really need to narrow it down to one or two. You can do one or two things really well, or a lot of things badly. Choosing what you want to do will narrow it down a lot and again will help us give you advice.

I'dd use Catalog.

Draw 2 cards, discard 1 card. Goes very well with Red or Black Madness cards

DragonsGoddess 1 don't know the win con I think just damage 2 I don't really have a budget if there's cards I need i'll get them but would like to keep it reasonably priced 3 what I mean is I pre-ordered all the SOI cards that I have in the deck (was thinking of starting standard)

side note I think I would like to try to go aggro

If you want to go aggro (or perhaps an aggro-control style, which I think may be more appealing to you), here's some of what you should do:

  • Drop all the cards that do things like mill your opponent or gain life. Those aren't what you want to be doing and just dilute your strategy.
  • Get rid of the auras. They just open you up to getting two-for-oned. The only one I'd maybe consider is Aqueous Form because you can put it on your Geist.
  • Remove any card that costs more than four mana, and most creatures that cost more than three. They're too slow! Kalitas is too grindy for your deck, and Odric is too vulnerable to removal IMO.
  • Focus on Geist of Saint Traft: Pick up more copies, the dude's a powerhouse.
  • Work on your mana base. Now is a good time to pick up Polluted Deltas and Flooded Strands. You will also want to get shocklands at some point: Godless Shrine, Hallowed Fountain and Watery Grave. I'd lose things like Mirrorpool, Miren, the Moaning Well, Mortuary Mire and definitely Evolving Wilds. None of them are worth running.
  • Consider some key cards for these colors: Path to Exile is a must. Lingering Souls will provide you plenty of creatures to help you carry out your plans. If you want a tempo style, you may want countermagic in your sideboard at least. Spell Pierce, Remand, Mana Leak and Negate are commonly used. Counterspells that cost more than two mana are not going to be good for you.
