They're fake, but I think every box I've opened online has been upwards of 240

Well I opened 2 real boxes and they were more than underwhelming. NO Noble Hierarch, no Spellskite or goyf or whatsoever. Pulled an elesh norn, a karn, foil bitterblossom, some daybreak coronets, only 2 remands and thats about it.

And most of the prices have tanked so the EV has plummeted.

Yea, I got a set of foil Hurkyl's Recall via TCG for 7 each. I think it's going to get cancelled but it's a steal regardless. Prices are hitting the dirt. I'm so glad I cancelled my box preorder. You need to open $300 plus of pre-crash value to break even at this point.

I actually made a decision to never buy a box again (unless I plan to NOT open it, and sell it a couple of years later).

Everyone keeps complaining saying the cards aren't worth enough to buy boxes. Are your local stores way over pricing them or what?

I bought 4 boxes for a total price of $1050. In cards worth $5+ i made $1050 opening my first two boxes. With only one extremely expensive card so far foil bob.

Yeh I only buy to sell later.

@vomdur

I actually got my boxes for 210Euros each, so it wasn't overpriced. I just pulled bad cards! Also, before I opened my boxes yesterday, I participated in a MM15 Draft in my LGS. As we do rare-picks in winning order, I saw all the rares (and foils) of not only my 48 packs, but an additional amount of 39 packs' worth of rares. No goyf was seen, no hierarch and no mox. The winner got to pick a clique and a twin (and then some cheaper stuff), and I got second so I picked a foil elesh norn and daybreak coronet. That was pretty much all the sauce. What I'm saying is

1) the overall distribution of good rares and limited-only rares does not lean towards money

2) I should be spending my money on limited events rather than boxes, because that foil elesh norn more than made up for the participation fee

Keep in mind, that I almost saw as many pack contents as you (tournament + my boxes), and they were not very exciting. I think you got lucky.

The overall variance of worth between packs is HUGE. Some rare are worth under a dollar, others are worth around $50. It's a really bad set from an economic perspective. If you need the cards though it's pretty great.

@ChiefBell

I agree. My modern card pool was pretty small, which was one of the reasons I bought my boxes. Nevertheless, between the draft and opening my own packs, I didn't even get a playset of remand, lightning bolt, dismember or any other modern usable card, which made me really regret my decision to buy the boxes. But I'm repeating myself.

At $240+ tax MSRP per box , which is what every LGS in my area is selling it for. Breaking even is not easy at that price and making money is even more difficult. Personally, I do not think it is worth buying a box. Three people I know opened 5 boxes between them and only 1 of those boxes surpassed the box price and even in that case it wasn't much more than the box price and only because they pulled a goyf and a clique.

I can totally understand your point of view on the set with the unlucky pulls you've been getting. Hope all of your future pulls are much better. I would like a few other people to enjoy this set like i have. It gave me a great chance to expand my hoard with some quality cards.

I just saw a box opened that had only two mythics.

1x Tarmogoyf and 1x Comet Storm.

The only other money-cards in the box where 2x Daybreak Coronet and a Leyline of Sanctity. I am guessing this is one of the few boxes that had a goyf but wasn't worth MSRP.

My best pack had a Bitterblossom, a foil Lightning Bolt and a Darksteel Citadel.... My worst was Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder and no token and not a single playable card in any slot..

Bought 7 packs, got my hopes up, broke even. :P

So annoyed. 40% of the cards in my box, including some of the fucking rares, were marred with printing errors. Anyone notice the awful white splotches on some of these cards, like the inking is uneven and sloppy on a lot of them? The packaging doesn't do much to protect these cards either. I noticed more than a few notched and chipped edges on cards. The quality control of this first run of MMA2 is fucking nonexistent. I am beyond baffled and disappointed.

I'm sending every defective card back to Wizards with a strong but polite demand for replacements or a refund.

Anybody else have these issues?

Some of the rares were faded in the text box but thankfully none of the pricey ones were. Often the cards were not what you'd call near mint because of that shitty packaging. I've pulled enough value to come out on top even at these sunken prices, but the intention was to draft and it was definitely our funnest draft we've ever done.

Specific-wise I got Tarmogoyf, Bitterblossom, Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite, & Emrakul, the Aeons Torn as my mythics in one box and Vendilion Clique, Bitterblossom, Kozilek, Butcher of Truth, & Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker as my mythics in the other box.

That's awesome with those pulls, dude. Aren't you frustrated though with the collation issues and faded ink? Packaging also caused many of the cards' corners to become damaged. There were more than a couple miscut corners in my box too. :(

Wizards are replacing faulty boosters. Unsure about faulty cards specifically.

@ ChiefBell:

They normally replace faulty cards, provided you've got proof of purchase and you send them a letter explaining the issue. Obviously, you have to mail their product replacement team the cards you need replaced, too.

I've done this on three occasions in the past and they've replaced everything (they aren't quick about it, though; the last time it took over a month for me to receive replacements). I'm about to send them roughly 40% of my first MMA2 box. We'll see what they do. I expect that they'll replace them, now that they have the print issues under control.

They do have them under control, don't they...?
