This deck relies on Winter Orb to lock down opponents while exploiting the Llanowar Elves and Quirion Ranger combo to cast up to CMC creatures with a single Forest even with the Orb down. We don't care about sacrificing Forest to the Rogue Elephant or Heart of Yavimaya because this deck operates fine on 1-2 Forests with the Elves in play.

Nature's Claim is mainly to eliminate our own Winter Orb at the end of our opponent's turn:

if we have another Winter Orb in hand, so we untap all, gain 4 life, and replay the Orb, keeping our opponent locked down, or

to fully untap and drop an Overrun to end the game.

Fangren Firstborn is an alternate finisher that turns all our little Elves into larger threats. If The Firstborn attacks twice before he bites the dust, the Elves get to 3/3 and are difficult to deal with.

Only play Giant Growth on a create that has broken through an attack. We only care about pushing damage here, every creature is disposable.
