First live game testing —May 14, 2012

Played my friend's UU Illusions deck and went 2-1 against it...

Game 1: Started with 5 land in hand and thought "No big deal, I'll draw more spells then!" I proceeded to draw land for 4 turns and lose.

Game 2: Things went much smoother this time around and while I had to burn my own Garruk after my opponent played Volition Reins on him the game was no contest.

Game 3: Birds of Paradise is my hero. Drew one land, Birds and two Green Sun's Zenith and decided to keep. Had to GSZ for the other 2 Birds, allowing me to play everything else. Knocked opponent down to 4 with Terror of Kruin Pass, Ravager of the Fells  Flip, Immerwolf and a 4/4 wolf token and 3/3 deathtouch wolf token. Terror was killed and he plays Devastation Tide on his turn. I bring everything back out, then he drops Lord of the Unreal. Huntmaster comes out next and I cast Moonmist, hitting him for 2 and killing his lone blocker before swinging.

I'm thinking about adding Bonfire of the Damned in place of Devil's PlayMTG Card: Devil's Play when it's released as a one-sided board wipe.

Well since you are making this for FNM one thing that you will need is a 15 card side board, or else you will get DQ'd I know it's not much help in the deck itself, but I'm new and i just know the rules :) Trying to be a judge here! :D

Some day I want to build a competitive man-land deck. Not sure if it'll work though.

is a much better replacement. If you really want to flip Garruk, there are still other options on your own side of the field if you can't find something on your opponent's side.

The Metamorph has too many uses to leave out though. It's effectively a 2nd copy of any creature or artifact in my deck or my opponent's. Not to mention it knocks off game-ending legends. Kessig CagebreakersMTG Card: Kessig Cagebreakers will likely go in my sideboard as a recovery against opposing board wipes. Not much use for Corrosive GaleMTG Card: Corrosive Gale with Bonfire in the mainboard.

I hadn't realized Phyrexian MetamorphMTG Card: Phyrexian Metamorph copied anything on the battlefield, it's better than I first gave it credit for. Being able to take down those legends is nice, but for my use I would still sideboard it until needed.

Just got locked down today by Platinum EmperionMTG Card: Platinum Emperion in casual play. My friends make some weird choices for maindeck cards. Guess they're tired of playing me, haha...Was cool that around turn 6 I started cranking out 3 5/5 wolves per turn.

2 Nightfall PredatorMTG Card: Nightfall Predators and RR will take care of that... or one getting +1 attack from somewhere combined with an incinerate.

You could have even turned their own trick against them with your Phyrexian MetamorphMTG Card: Phyrexian Metamorph. Of coarse I know this all depends on card draw.

Yeah already had one Metamorph on the board and never drew the Ranger. Was waiting on 2 more land to hit it with Devil's PlayMTG Card: Devil's Play which is Bonfire for the moment, but they were using Sword of Body and MindMTG Card: Sword of Body and Mind and topdecked it before I could kill the Emperion.

The damn card had to fit into some deck didn't it? Haha...

Heck, it's probably has the second most relevant colour protections right now, so feel free to bitch slap that pesky 3/2 flyer! ;D

What about Pyreheart WolfMTG Card: Pyreheart Wolf? Provides same ability as outlaw, but you don't have to flip it and it affects all your creatures. +undying!

I'll probably board one of them and find out if I like it our not. With I at least have a chance to cast MoonmistMTG Card: Moonmist on the turn it comes out and swing with everything else. If only I could give Pyreheart WolfMTG Card: Pyreheart Wolf haste...

hehe Crimson MageMTG Card: Crimson Mage?

+1 for realizing that is still really good with over ? There are three reasons, really. First, Gang affects your board the turn it comes out. Second, , though it sits at CMC 3, requires two Red mana, which is your odd-man-out color. It might be difficult to find a second Red source by your third or fourth turn.

Overall, however, I like the build.

Either one will probably stay a 2 of as they're more mid to late game icing on the cake. I'll stick with for now and look elsewhere if she doesn't live up to the task. Also, since I'm not running Full Moon's RiseMTG Card: Full Moon's Rise I feel like I'll get better mileage out of the mass evasion.
