Crimson Mage

Creature — Human Shaman

{R}: Target creature you control gains haste until end of turn.

A possible hulk line would be Vannifar and Crimson Mage, pay R to give her haste and start the pod line like I do with normal birthing pod and any cmc 2 creature. Problem is that it would make the hulk line cost R even if all cards are where they should be. If nothing is stuck in hand I can do it free, which is obviously better. But it would be possible to use her with Hulk. If we had a cmc 2 creature that gives haste without mana payment it would be nice. Still not sure if that was good enough to be included then.

It's scary!

It seems like you've got almost everything you would normally want in a combo deck (I'm not a combo player at heart, just a dabbler so I could easily be wrong though!).

As a rule of thumb I would say 'if it's not one of my combo pieces, it has to help me get to my combo pieces' - ie 1) cheap rocks so you can keep paying for draw spells (even better if they are free mox types), 2) all the usual 'don't usually bother playing these in EDH' draw spells Ponder, Preordain, Brainstorm etc, 3) cheap counters to protect you going off definitely including Pact of Negation, and 4) 'Tutors'. You've got quite a lot of all of these...

To try to be faster?

You could go heavier on the digging by including more Cathartic Reunion effects to just dig dig dig.

Also in the Mana category you could use red 'Rituals' Seething Song, Infernal Plunge that Spellseeker who has done her job. Infinite mana? Basalt Monolith & Rings of Brighthearth but that's only colorless, there's always something with Palinchron but that might be too slow.

You also might as well put in Tolaria West, you might have plenty of draw but tutoring for Pact of Negation in desperate times is awesome!

Finally the only particularly odd inclusion I see straight off is Battle Rampart - any reason you're going with that over other things? If it was me I'd use something that can give old NivMiz haste the same turn;

Crimson Mage

Goblin Bushwhacker

Inner-Flame Acolyte

Doesn't have to be creature based - Expedite even replaces itself.

So yeah, a non-combo players take on what wants to be a tuned combo deck... Might not be a world of help but it was fun at least for me to give my perspective!

I'm looking forward to Frenzied Goblin too, but Crimson Mage looks cool also. A lot of these will end up getting used by me eventually, I'm sure.

The following cards have been downshifted and will be Pauper legal when M25 is released.
Ainok Survivalist
Assembly-Worker
Balduvian Horde
Borrowing 100,000 Arrows
Cinder Storm
Court Hussar
Crimson Mage
Dragon's Eye Savants
Fencing Ace
Frenzied Goblin
Geist of the Moors
Ghost Ship
Hordeling Outburst
Jackal Pup
Loyal Sentry
Pillage
Relentless Rats
Ruthless Ripper
Savannah Lions
Skeletonize
Some of these will certainly see play in current brews or will inspire new ones. Which of these are you most excited about? I'm really happy about Ruthless Ripper, Fencing Ace and Loyal Sentry. Gattison is probably psyched about Hordeling Outburst !

@LordMithos you are absolutely correct! I just didnt remember to write in the fact that you need the way to get haste. Usually when I play the deck and cast Buried Alive or Entomb, the first creature I grab is Anger. That is also one of the reasons Lightning Mauler is good in this deck above Crimson Mage for that combo.

Glad you like it!

Shaman.

(shaman, shaman, shaman)

I hope you like shaman too

As an avid edh Wort, the Raidmother featuring the combo Of Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker, and Lightning Crafter and shaman stuff, I like jund/gruul as much as i love grixis, always looking for new ways to play the colors in modern and edh, this deck gets my vote

Its subtly powerful and original, and well built

In the event blue is a threat in modern again,id recommend 1 or 2 Vexing Shusher to counterproof spells, also Burning-Tree Shaman could see sideboard play

Maybe Crimson Mage, Firedrinker Satyr, Fulminator Mage, Goblin Arsonist, Oracle of Mul Daya, Rattleclaw Mystic, Thrun, the Last Troll, Thermo-Alchemist, or Stonewright?

My first modern brew was red goblins, and if you ever get enough store credit to buy a few, id recommend 2-3 Cavern of Souls mainboard for another Stomping Ground type of land that hoses blue

Besides other non budget things such as Wooded Foothills and Aether Vial cant think of anything else,

Cheers!
