Thanks for the idea though. :)

Phyrexian Obliterator needs to be in any mono-black modern deck.

March 2, 2015 8:12 p.m.

MooneBoyIrish says... #5

Yes it is. You will see that Phyrexian Obliterator is in the maybe board and in the decks description it says that all cards in the maybe board are good cards for the deck but are really expensive. And if you want to put it in I suggest you take out either Gravecrawler or Geralf's Messenger.

I don't know if the card is really good but in my mono-black decks I try to run deathtouch in the form of Vampire Nighthawk

Vampire Nighthawk is a good card for some mono black decks. But it doesn't really work with this deck and I wouldn't know what to take out. But it is a good card and works well with other decks.

Very nice and very annoying. Something that may have been discussed earlier though, is there any reason Pack Rat is not in the deck?

March 4, 2015 5:02 a.m.

MooneBoyIrish says... #10

No there has been no discussion including Pack Rat. There are no rats in the deck so why should I put in Pack Rat?

March 4, 2015 5:15 a.m.

Prometheus-X- says... #11

Pack Rat has a great synergy with Whip of Erebos where you can activate it to return Pack Rat and active its ability to create more rats out of nowhere. The copies also copy the casting cost so in a roundabout way you turn your bad cards to devotion.

Pack Rat doesn't really work with the deck, and it's ability costs a lot of mana and causes me to discard my cards like Bloodghast and Demon of Death's Gate and using Whip of Erebos ability I have to exile those cards at the end of the turn. It also doesn't give much devotion.

Xavier4238 says... #13

you don't have to exile the cards at the end of the turn. That's why there is great synergy. Also, the cards you discard are those such as lands or Gravecrawler/Bloodghast.

Ok I see what you mean. I will add it to the sideboard so if you wan't to play the deck with you can switch it in. And sorry Prometheus-X- for not understanding what you meant.

I think you should be running a few Murderous Cuts as well. I reckon 4x to replace go for the throat (and maybe doom blade in the sideboard) as they have no conditions attached. Makes for more solid play

I can switch out Go for the Throat with Doom Blade if they are playing an artifact deck. Also this deck uses a fair bit of graveyard play. So I don't really want to delve my graveyard.

March 4, 2015 7:54 p.m.

Prometheus-X- says... #17

It's okay, you don't have to apologize. I agree with the Murderous Cut plan too. Sure your graveyard is an asset but do you need all of your graveyard? No. You don't. You need your essential cards for the match. Knowing what to remove and when to remove it will make you and your deck better. Another great card to consider is Wight of Precinct Six you can think of it as a cheap, black Tarmogoyf that also enables Gravecrawler.

You need the sideboard slots for the matches that your deck cannot handle.

You two are to alike. You can basically only use Murderous Cut about twice a game for one mana and you can't use it turn one, but it can destroy any creature. Seeing that I have a lot of instants I will be able to use Murderous Cut in around turn 4 or 5 which could be useful against cards like Siege Rhino. I have decided to put two Murderous Cuts in and two Go for the Throat and have two Doom Blades on the sideboard. Is that a good compromise?

Prometheus-X- says... #19

Seems good to me. Arguably the first and second Murderous Cut is better than the third and fourth so yeah that seems like a good balance to me. If you are running Elbrus, the Binding Blade  Flip wouldn't Nether Traitor be strictly better than Bloodghast?

March 6, 2015 5:18 a.m.

MooneBoyIrish says... #20

Yes it may and it is a good suggestion and it would be good to have a almost unblockable creature. But you have to pay 1 mana return him to the battlefield if another creature enter the graveyard this turn and by then I may not have the mana to cast it from the graveyard, also it's only a +1/+1. Bloodghast can have haste as well which can be good seeing as creatures have res when returned from the graveyard.

Also I have found that people attack with their creatures each turn because most of mine can't block. So I can cast it and equip it without them being able too block anyway. But it is cheap so it is a good idea for a cheaper version of this deck.
