Keeps all your opponents lands in their hands
This deck is based on the combination of Boomerang
+
Isochron Scepter
to keep all your opponents lands in their hand so they can't do anything.
As soon as possible begin returning lands (especially target lands that enter tapped) with a bounce engine and ignore everything else unless it is an imediate threat. This will keep their lands at their current number while you continue to play more.
Once you have enough mana cast another bounce engine and begin to further reduce their lands. The goal is for all of their lands to be in their hand. Then focus on any remaining permanents.
Then you just have to repeatedly attack until they die.
Bounce Engines
Any of the creature based bounce engines can be equiped with Illusionist's Bracers for a second bounce engine
Muddle the Mixture can tutor for Boomerang or Isochron Scepter
The Swiftfoot Boots are there for creature protection and
Orb of Dreams
for a hard lock
Sideboard
Elixir of Immortality is there against Mill decks. Stoic Rebuttal if you need counterspells. Witchbane Orb to help against Burn Decks. The rest are just the second 2 of's from the deck.
History of the Deck
This deck was originally an Extended Mono-Black Megrim Discard deck. However, I kept ending up with opponents that had nothing left to discard. So I added
Warped Devotion
and Blue cards like Temporal Adept and
Time Elemental
to put cands in their hand that they would then discard. Having left the game after Mirrodin Block, I recently returned to it and found the format had been changed to Modern. Happily, Temporal Adept, Megrim, and
Warped Devotion
were reprinted in Modern legal blocks. So I rebuilt the deck and began playing with it. I added Waste Not to win with zombies. Eventually, I found that I could win without any black and the deck became the Mono-Blue it now is.
