The principle of this deck is to spawn a ridiculous amount of 1/1 Scarab Black Creature Tokens with the enchantments and quickcasting cards in this deck. I figured out the synergistic link between the following cards with another deck, of which I will leave its link at the bottom of the description.
So, how can I possibly rely on an army of 1/1 Scarabs? And how can I spawn that many in a mono-black deck? Well, its simple really.
Our main engine card is
Nest of Scarabs
, which allows us to spawn an army of 1-1 Scarab Creature Tokens with ease whenever a -1/-1 counter is put on a creature. Combo this off with
Everlasting Torment
and you got yourself an army of 1/1 Scarabs that spawn even more Scarabs whenever they deal damage to a creature! Buff them up with
Bad Moon
, and for each Scarab that deals damage to a creature, spawn that many other 1/1 Scarabs equal to the damaging Scarab's power, in which in its turn will gain the benefits of Wither and +1/+1 from the other enchantments.
But that's not all. For those lingering pests that have large amounts of power/toughness, we use
Crumbling Ashes
to destroy them at the start of our turns. And to tag along,
Blowfly Infestation
gives out a single -1/-1 counter to a target creature whenever a creature with a -1/-1 counter dies! Which means even more Scarabs and even more power/toughness reduction to our opponent.
Now, with an army of Scarabs that multiply upon battle, and mostly likely death,
Dictate of Erebos
forces the opponent to lose their board while we simply have an army of Scarabs! And to top it all of, with
Necroskitter
, we get to take control of their entire board whenever their creatures die. Same goes to
Dread Slaver
that possesses a good ability, especially when it can deal damage with the Wither effect.
And to top it all off, if it wasn't enough, we get to play
Black Sun's Zenith
. Lets say we want to put 3 -1/-1 counters on each creature, and that we currently control 10 Scarab Tokens. This means that we've multiplied our Scarab count by 3! So by losing 10 Scarabs, we got another 30 Scarabs in their place! And this is just with the creatures we control!
And the best part is, we don't even need to be scared of cards like
Pyroclasm
, because it'll spawn just as many Scarabs on our board!
Everlasting Torment
gives cards like
Pyroclasm
Wither, which means it deals damage in the form of -1/-1 counters, thus simply spawning Scarabs back on the board as they die, forcing opponents to sacrifice a ton of creatures from Dictate, and (by the chance that our Scarabs survive the wipe with
Bad Moon
), just multiplying our army in general.
