Naya Ramp/Tokens - "Conspiracy Block Constructed"

Casual*

JakeHarlow

After many, many drafts of Conspiracy and Conspiracy: Take the Crown, some friends and I came up with the idea that it might be fun to play with the sets in a Constructed format (hence the name "Conspiracy Block Constructed"). Now, although Conspiracy and Conspiracy: Take the Crown aren't explicitly designed as members of a Block, they are kindred sets, and so a "super-Block" of sorts, comprising both of them, was proposed.

Now, since this is a Constructed format, many of the cards from the Conspiracy sets featuring mechanics that care about the draft are far less useful (some though are entirely nonfunctional). This includes some of the Conspiracy cards. Ignoring these drawbacks, we can still form a Constructed multiplayer format featuring Conspiracy mechanics and cards.

The basic rules are:

  • Cards featuring draft mechanics are legal as long as they can still function within the game rules without looking at their draft component. (Example: Illusionary Informant is playable as a 1/3 creature with flying, but has none of its draft-based abilities, while Garbage Fire, whose rules text relies entirely on the draft, is unplayable)

  • Each Constructed deck may start the game with up to two Conspiracy cards in the command zone. These Conspiracy cards must have different names. (note that the above rule concerning cards with draft-dependent mechanics also applies to Conspiracy cards; for example Worldknit is not playable in this format, while Adriana's Valor is)

  • Only cards from the Conspiracy and Conspiracy: Take the Crown sets may be included in decks of this format.

  • The basic rules for multiplayer 60-card Constructed Magic play are otherwise unchanged. The starting player does draw a card during his or her first draw step despite going first, life totals start at 20 (we might change this depending on how the format shakes out), etc.

This Deck

This deck is an example and rough draft of a basic Naya Ramp/Tokens strategy. Because of the solid mana fixing available in this format, we can attempt an otherwise greedy three-color strategy. Our chosen Conspiracy cards (listed in the Maybeboard) are:

The basic strategy is to accelerate to moderately high mana, flood the board with creatures, pump them up with the likes of Intangible Virtue (which affords us some protection from opponents' counter-swings), and get in for sudden kills with Overrun (which in our deck gives +6/+6 and trample to our creatures). The deck is rather light on control and as such is a bit of an all-in strategy. This is just one idea for a deck archetype in this casual Constructed format.
