3rd Place in standard! —Nov. 27, 2012

This week, I went 3-1 once again, though one round was a bye. The deck fared better against Unburial Rites, though I still used the old version with a single Killing Wave in there, which I actually got to cast effectively- for the first time out of 12 games. I've been thinking about trying out Rise from the Grave, since this will steal my opponent's creature from their graveyard.

Wondering what you thought of my changes to this on my deck: Vampiric Life

I'm not sure about Liliana of the Dark Realms ... wouldn't the removal of Liliana of the Veil be stronger in this deck?

Though I'm not sure I would use either. I'd personally take out the Liliana's and replace them with Underworld Connections . This can give crazy card advantage, while allowing additional chances of getting a black card on top of your library when Vampire Nocturnus is out.

The reason people don't run more vampire decks is because blue/white control decks running Tamiyo, the Moon Sage and Entreat the Angels , possibly with Thragtusk , is too overpowered right now.

Just read your reasoning for Liliana of the Dark Realms ... Underworld Connections is the better way to go.

If you wan't another shuffle option, you may want to consider running 2x Evolving Wilds ... if you do, you can include 2-3 Mountain s in order to also allow the Evolving Wilds to be a mana fixer for early game as well.

Tell me what you think of my variation on BR Vamp: BR Vamp

I didn't put in Necropolis Regent , as I feel it's too slow for this decks style... if Bloodline Keeper  Flip s and Vampire Nocturnus won't finish them, she won't either.

I haven't made my sideboard yet, which I think is where Olivia Voldaren may end up.... if nothing else, she's B/R's best counter to the all too common Thragtusk .

I've been thinking about Appetite for Brains and Sever the Bloodline just because Thragtusk is everywhere. I haven't actually played with the Regent yet, though I can say that there are a ton of decks that have removal everywhere. It might be nice to have that punch late in the game. We'll see.

The Liliana I have is good against slower decks, and that would seem to be the point of Underworld Connections as well. However, I can tell you that when Godless Shrine is printed in Gatecrash, I will be using Sorin, Lord of Innistrad instead.
