card:Wolfhunter's Quiver for more ping-y action.

I thought about that card, but it costs too much to equip. Using Ulvenwald / Prowess lets me start pinging turn #3 with a Recluse.

I like it. Typhoid Rats is another death touched, as well as Ambush Viper , but I don't know how many more you need..

I considered both of those. The rats were too small, and the Recluse I chose over the Viper because it has reach. I have thought about trying some Vipers and some Recluses though (2x each maybe?), just to see how things went.

Awesome. Now that I think about it Livewire Lash protects against removal a bit and gives you more pinging power for a cheaper cost than the quiver. Your Sheltering Word can fuel it and you could also add for more pumps. I know the word heals you but I think card:Ranger's Guile is cheaper and still protects.

Livewire is out of the question, as I am building this for when standard rotates in October. The cost on Word doesn't seem to bother me, as when I need it I have the mana for it. Also, the healing is important, as early game I tend to take a bit of a beating while I get things set up.

What I really need is an answer to Day of Judgment type effects.

Um no Prey Upon ? I know you have Tracker but come on! Oh and i dont know if know this and it COMPLETELY contradicts me. But the Fight mechanic doesnt trigger Deathtouch. Lightning Prowess is good though. And its really not fair if you're trying to be rotation proof but you use Birds of Paradise ...... Stop shooting yourself with ROTATION! We have more time left for a reason! Or else they'd rotate stuff out after every new set! You're worried about Day and board wipe. Day is very popular even now! Be on fair terms with your opponents because people can take advantage of others trying to be "Rotation Proof".

I doubt birds will come back. If im wrong so be it. but still..

I am almost completely certain birds will be coming back. They've been printed so many times, including the original ravnica set. Also, yes fight will trigger death touch. What a lot of people get confused on with fight is that it negates first strike, so they think it negates all abilities. this is not true. The creatures simultaneously deal damage to each other, separate from combat, which is what negates the first strike, since there is no combat. However, the creature is still dealing damage, so yes it does trigger death touch. (note: I don't know how fight interacts with trample however. I should probably look it up.)

@darkavengerotk: building a deck with anticipation for rotation, in my opinion, is good practice and an leads you to see interesting things that you wouldn't have. If birds do fall out of standard, then I am certain that shock lands will come back, at which point I would just replace those birds with 4x Arbor Elf (cause they'll be able to untap the shock lands).

@snotskie THANK YOU for giving a much more reasonable reason to play post rotation! I never understood why people didnt. It annoyed me seeing people come up with some really good stuff for a deck and then the creator of the deck is like, nah post rotation bro. Thank you.

No problem!

Also Ulvenwald Tracker has instant speed and can be used over and over.

Am I missing something? There's no Dread Slaver s in your deck...

I could never get a combo with him set up properly, so it's temporarily pulled for a bit.

i had the same sort of idea in the past using Somberwald Vigilante +Nightshade Peddler (or any for to give it deathtouch)+Lure /Revenge of the Hunted

Somberwald + Peddler would've been hilarious to pull off in a draft.

What does deathtouch + trample do? I have never heard of this xD

September 3, 2012 8:12 p.m.

snotskie says... #20

Each blocker against a deathtouch+trample creature can only block ONE damage, no matter what its toughness is. This is because trample says it deals lethal damage to each blocker and the rest rolls over, while deathtouch says 1 damage is lethal damage.

So, your 5 3/3 tokens can only block 5 damage against my 8/7 deathtouch trample.

(This would kill my guy, but I get to moreorless wipe your field and deal 3 damage, so it's a good trade I think.)

Looks like a hella fun build you have here. Have you thought about Acidic Slime ? Another deathtoucher that has the added bonus of blowing up your opponent's most annoying noncreature permanent.

+1'd

Also, if you'd like, check out my Jund build, Jund Haste

The slime is too big for my deck. I need to be able to drop the Lightning Prowess + deathtouch combo asap, thus I prefer the recluse and assassin.

I'll have to give your deck a look!

Also, I just thought about this, but what about Garruk Relentless  Flip ? His ability when flipped gives you a 1/1 deathtouch wolf per turn, which is basically a 2 mana removal spell when combined with Ulvenwald Tracker .

September 26, 2012 12:58 p.m.

snotskie says... #24

I fear it would slow the deck down trying to get him to flip.

I'd say add in some Rancor s for your deathtouch creatures, so that all but 1 of their damage goes through :)
