The Short List for Replacement —Jan. 21, 2016

In an effort to ease my worries of not having enough land, I replaced Ojutai's Summons with a Forest. I felt the summons was easily over shadowed by other token generators in the deck so it could go. I now have a growing maybeboard of cards which I would like to include if possible, but I need candidates for replacement. I have a few candidates in mind, but I would appreciate any advice on the matter. I should also try to prioritize the maybeboard so advice in that department is welcome too.

Candidates for Replacement:

Priorities to Add:

  • Garruk Wildspeaker - I recently came upon a situation where I needed a trample enabler and with a 20 card draw, didn't get one I could use. I feel Garruk's ramp and potentially reusable Overrun would be very handy for this deck.

  • Nissa, Vastwood Seer  Flip - She is an elf and helps with ramp, card draw, and can provide some big creatures. I also conveniently have my second one sitting unused in the binder currently.

  • Simic Manipulator - I recently played two games each of which saw Predator, Flagship + Willbreaker do some cool things (such as take Meren of Clan Nel Toth and Narset, Enlightened Master) I feel like this card could be very powerful considering all the counters Ezuri starts throwing around. I think it's handy to have something available as a chance to take control of other experience counter generals.

  • Presence of Gond, Leafdrake Roost, Ooze Flux - I would like at least one of these as a repeatable token (and experience counter) generator.

  • Collected Company - I'm not actually sure how well to expect this to work, but there are currently 26 eligible creatures. Probabilities time! Easiest scenario to calculate is pulling 2 eligible creatures from the 92 card library, assuming that all 26 are still in the library: Pr = C(26, 2)*C(66, 4)/C(92, 6) = 32.8%. I suppose that's not too bad, and maybe about as good as it gets in an EDH deck. I welcome opinions on the matter.
