This is my Elves combo deck. It normally wins by turn 3/4. If it doesn't win by turn 5, GG lol.
I've always loved playing Elves, I used to play during the Onslaught block back then. Then the Elves were hip again with the LSV championship win a few years ago.
But I decided to take my own approach at this type of deck. I love
Priest of Titania
and I always wanted to add it to my main deck, so I built it around her.
The idea is very similar to the usual
Birchlore Rangers
,
Nettle Sentinel
,
Heritage Druid
, and, most importantly,
Glimpse of Nature
. However, if adding
Priest of Titania
can slow down the deck unless I focus the strategy on ramping up lots of mana to get more elves out. This is why I added
Quirion Ranger
, so that I can tap multiple times the Priest.
I noticed a problem in the usual Combo Elf deck: sometimes, you need to take a big gamble with
Glimpse of Nature
: what if you draw a land and have no more creatures to play to keep drawing? So I added
Beast Whisperer
(IMHO probably the best Elf card right now out there). I normally try playing 2 Glimpses, but if don't draw them, then there's always the whisperer to help.
I really like how
Summoner's Pact
saves my butt by bringing the right cards at the right moment. At some point during turn 3, the combo takes off endlessly.
Shaman of the Pack
is in my opinion the best win condition for an Elf Combo deck. Others use
Craterhoof Behemoth
or
Grapeshot
. But the beauty of
Shaman of the Pack
is that you just need 9 Elves and 1
Wirewood Symbiote
out to deal 10 damage, return to your hand, and then play it again to kill your oponent. I normally do a lot more, like 30 damage (which is enough, once I have enough elves on the battlefield, I can just play it twice).
Even if you are not doing so well on your game, you can constantly play and return the Shaman to your hand. This deck does not win by combat damage, but IF for some reason you can't play Shaman of the Pack (or it was countered), you can still overwhelm your opponent with elves.
Elvish Promenade
synergizes so well with
Priest of Titania
. It also helps me with my win condition. It leaves tons of mana floating to keep putting more creatures until I either get enough
Nettle Sentinel
s or other synergizing elves.
God I love elves.
