Hey I am running something pretty similar. Check out Orzhov Token Control for some ideas. How has this deck been treating you against the local meta?

Oops... the correct tag for MY version of the deck is Orzhov Token/Control

I don't know why it showed up like that, I didn't put deck-large into the tag...weird.

ya tapped out has been acting a lil weird lately, but, xzzane i was checking out your non-budget deck for some serious competitive upgrades and i think you make a good point about Tidehollow Sculler being a good disruption card but too easy to remove with the current meta. I will be doing the following:

1x Thoughtsieze, 1x Zealous Persecution, 1x Path to Exile > 3x Tidehollow Sculler

I am also considering:

1x Auriok Champion > 1x Honor of the Pure

with 6 buff enchantments there is still a high probability that I will see one if not multiple during any given game. Plus being my only creature and with an awesome lifegain ability, Auriok Champion needs to make an appearance more often. Its too bad they are so hard to find.

As for the fetch lands, Marsh Flats are sitting at around $25-30 which makes them cheaper than some of the others. I will be collecting those slowly and integrating them into the mana base.

Thank you to both xzzane and jerrynyg for linking me their decks, you have given me a lot of inspiration and some guidance for how to make this deck competitive.

No problem, glad to help. I'll also help you out with yours if you want, jerrynyg. Do you have any more questions regarding the main board? I can offer my assistance with your sideboard as well. Some cards like Utter End need to go immediately.

xzzane I would love any advice you can give me

ya lol you are right xzzane, Utter End was a throw in cause my mind is still kinda geared towards standard. I need to replace it with Stony Silence to negate any artifact interference. Please point any other glaring holes in my sideboard plz!

Temple of Silence needs to go. Bile Blight has better replacements. What is your meta?

January 18, 2015 9:57 p.m.

albino_ninja says... #12

rlly!? temple is no buano, what would go in its place? The MNM I play modern at gets fairly large, 35+ players but most of that Ive seen are variations of Red Deck Wins. Burns, creatures with built in shocks and of course the smack face and die creatures like Hell's Thunder. But yes, there are many red decks in my meta....and one very annoying merfolk deck hahaha

upon further review, Fetid Heath is much better than Temple of Silence lol I will try to pick some up at my local store

Leyline of Sanctity and Auriok Champion are your best bets against RDW and burn. Burrenton Forge-Tender also does pretty well. As for merfolk, try Engineered Explosives.

I think Elspeth, Knight-Errant is just better than new Sorin badass.

xzzane says... #16

Rocknj06 would be correct. Elspeth is better.

I will be honest, SSV's first ability always has far outweighed the potential downside of him on a empty board. The amount of damage and life gain he does is with any amount of tokens helps race and win the game much more than EKR in my testing.

Elspeth is good in any situation, while sorin always runs the risk of being situational. Elspeth is definitely better than sorin.

February 2, 2015 11:08 p.m.

albino_ninja says... #19

This is where I go back and forth because I don't really believe SSV is situational. Both pump creatures, both given you tokens. The main difference is the ultimate ability. Sorin's gives me board advantage which circumnavigates protection, while Elspeth's gives the opponents removal a big middle finger lol maybe Im just not getting it, can you give me a breakdown of why Elspeth is better xzzane since you've been running this deck for much longer than I have.

February 2, 2015 11:48 p.m.

xzzane says... #20

Here's where the situational element comes in. If you have no field presence, an Elspeth, Knight-Errant can protect herself by adding tokens to the field while increasing her loyalty counters. Sorin's only option is to use his -2 ability, putting him into Shock range. Sorin, while amazing with a steady board presence, is still a risk. Elspeth remains a great field presence regardless of either a steady board presence or a lack thereof. It allows your Tidehollow Scullers (or Auriok Champions) to fly over a field of goyfs for potentially lethal damage due to the flying aspect. Or you can send a soldier over. Elspeth is extremely useful in both situations, while Sorin is only really good in one situation.

Very very valid, looking back my Auriok Champions did just chill unless I was facing a deck that ran red or blk. Thanks for the breakdown, this is the reason why I love this site. I had to sell my unborn child to get the two Leyline of Sanctitys haha so I might have to give a kidney for the other Elspeth

No problem, I'm always glad to help out. And I know how you feel, those leylines hurt your wallet something awful haha.

Glad xzzane jumped in with the breakdown I wasn't able to give last night due to my phone dying on me and me just wanting to get the comment in.

What is Bile Blight in the side for? Is the side geared towards your specific meta?

August 28, 2015 12:05 p.m.

albino_ninja says... #25

yes it is, there is a Simic Evolution deck that is giving me grief in my meta. Honestly I take the round 8/10 with him but losing to Ape tokens once a round really erks me for some reason lol I can spot removal most of his threats with Path to Exile but he tempos really well and swings for a fair amount of damage around T4. If there is something better to handle this deck out there I would be very willing to replace Bile Blight because it is only for one specific deck. I want something with a little more utility against other decks.
