Modern FNM —Nov. 1, 2014

Went 3-0 at my LGS Modern FNM tournament. 6-0 in overall games won. Hardest matchup was Burn, but Bow of Nylea does work gaining 3 life per turn if needed.

Edit: Played with no sideboard and I still need to pick up a 4th Primordial Hydra so I subbed in 1x Kin-Tree Invocation for the night.

It might be fun to splash white for Abzan Falconer to have flying hydras

Tuskguard sits on the three curve well, most of the other slots are saturated curve-wise. However, Reclamation Sage probably provides better utility. I'd rather be playing a Corpsejack Menace or even Primordial Hydra at 4 cmc more than Nylea. Unless you meant Bow of Nylea , because I could see that working well as a good 3-drop in this deck.

Honestly, Tuskguard Captain is kind of a "meh" card, but it has a few upsides in that itself can become a threat as soon as you start doubling counters and it lets Mistcutter Hydra and Primordial Hydra (before 10 counters) punch in for that extra trample damage.

What a gorgeous use of probably my favorite card from Khans. Def. a plus one here ("scales see that and add a counter then this scale sees that and adds a counter")

I love this play. Counters are my favorite and I used to use Essence Harvest for the win back with Innistrad. I also would put in Jarad, Golgari Lich Lord for the alternative sacrifice/life loss. He could be in this deck, but definitely isn't necessary, secondly, Bioshift is a great card, if they were to target kill one of your hydras you just move all the counters over to another hydra and if you have Corpsejack Menace on the field just double the amount of counters you move over!

Final thought, if you are actually playing this and want to build a sideboard, put in Whip of Erebos . If you lose a Kalonian Hydra and then bring it back in, attack, double all the counters, gain a gazillion life, and then it's exiled. For 4 mana. Always worth it.

O I almost forgot! Golgari Charm in the sideboard as well as it can deal with so many things. Boardwipe? Regenerate. Soldier tokens? -1/-1 for everybody. Enchantments? Gone. My favorite card from RtR.

+1 from me, really like this deck. If I were to make any suggestions I think Champion of Lambholt would fit really nicely in this deck. Perhaps in place of the Bow of Nylea ? Not too sure tbh as the deathtouch and other abilities adds nice utility.

Oh, and forgot to mention Hooded Hydra . Works well getting double the counters with season as well as double the snake tokens upon his death :D

Cool deck. +1 from me. I'd recommend some removal given you have access to black and some PW ramp such as Nissa, Worldwaker or Garruk Wildspeaker .

Not a big fan of Mistcutter Hydra but not sure which one to put in it's place...

Anyways... great deck - I love it!

+1 from me simply because I thought I had the game with a pair of Ensnaring Bridge s out on a playtest vs one of my control decks and then I got Essence Harvest ed by a 72/72 Primordial Hydra and had to resist the urge to laugh my ass off in a public place.
